Have this run coming up and would like any thoughts on the route I’m showing. I’ve found I84 to I691 to I91. Anybody run this route before? Also I see there may be tolls. Are they all electronic now or should I carry extra cash. Thanks.

Why not just run I-84 all the way?

I see that now. Is that a better route? Also, how about tolls?

84 takes Ya directly into Downtown Hartford

There are tolls from Scranton to Hartford, the toll bridge in NY. All electronic, no cash. Just stay on 84 until you get to Hartford

Toll for Newburgh-Beacon bridge on I-84 is eastbound only and is $15.25(EzPass) or $20(pay by mail). This is for 5 axle trucks.

Beware however, there is ongoing construction on I-84 East near Route 8 in Waterbury (bridge deck paving/repaving with lane shifts). They’ve been doing a lot of work in the evening, leading to backups.

What time will you be coming into Hartford? Middle of the night? Around 12 am every night there is a nice backup coming into Waterbury. I check my phone for traffic and decide between taking 691 which is under construction or stay on 84 which is preferred. There is also 2 different on lane construction zones in Pa that backup during the day. My record slow speed through both was 15 miles an hour because of an idiot truck driver.

    Truckersheldan Thanks this.

I’m estimating around 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Looks like I’ll hit the construction in Pa. But miss Waterbury. I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.

According to what I’m seeing for my delivery I’m going to be better taking I84 to I691 to I91. My delivery says Hartford but I’m going to be in south Hartford. Not going to be near the city center.
