If you have intentions of possibly driving again never downgrade your cdl . The $125 medical is cheap job insurance imo

Ahhhh man. You caught a tough break there my friend. There are companies out there that will hire you. I've definitely seen drivers who have been out longer and found jobs without taking a refresher. A freight downturn plus being in Florida will equal difficulty finding some work, but not impossible. Take whatever you can get so you'll have recent verifiable experience. I'd even try Werner. I think I saw an ad on here for drivers in Florida.

If Chinatown hasn't heard of it, I'd stay away. To be clear, you are NOT an inexperienced driver, and while a refresher course sounds demeaning, you'll breeze right through. If I may, with a family, whatever you do, stay close to home. While social media has helped, your family needs you home, and a ton of possibilities. P&D is huge in SE, dump trucks, garbage,,oops, refuse haulers, regional tanker specialty stuff, you are more than qualified for. Leave the long distance stuff to the angry loners just starting out.

That's cool, cell phones and social media changed everything for OTR drivers and their families. Used to be, OTR drivers had the absolute worst record for marriage, and rightly so. Who wants to say goodbye to dad/husband and not see him for a month? Angry, depressed loners drove trucks cross country, I knew many and why I stayed clear of that. I wanted to be a DAILY part of my families lives.

Next time go to dmv, tell them to exempt you from med card, as you’re not driving (Don’t get caught driving a cmv without one) and then just pay whatever your state requires for the 4-6 year(different states different license times.

Leave those Useless Xpress pricks alone. Swifty/Knight swallowed them up a while back. You'd want NO part of them!
