Not since I was a little kid...now that I'm retired...I might not be above trying that idea out.

New book. Extremely good. Read it maybe 10-15 years ago so I'm confident I don't remember any of it.

Good point. I've just always heard that underground water gets harder to find the further west you go.

Yes and no. Many places you can not just hand dig the well and need to bring out a rig to drill it with casing.

My well water is a hundred feet down from the surface. Well company measured it as part of a flow test this last spring.

Neighbor across the street had one drilled summer 2022. Took it down 120ft so he had some drought room.........

All that being said, Have a cousin in MT that had a great well till a Yellowstone earth quake came and messed with the aquifer. He put in a cistern/holding tank and pays somebody to bring out a tanker to fill it. Figured the cistern was financially better long term until the aquifer settled down. Filling it quarterly is still less than the nearby city folks average water bill.

Its not easy in the south either. Lol. Ive had several drilled and only enough for one house sometimes. Went 600’ with one and only got 1.5 gpm. Had another go about 300’ and had good water till summer and i pumped it dry. It had a big reserve somewhere under ground and it would last for about 2 weeks when It was running alot. It was furnishing a farm so I would have to swap it with another one sometimes.

Part of that makes sense if you were in need of a noise buffer. You never know if you might be in the bathroom with some kind of pervo weirdo.
