Most Walmarts won't even let Walmart trucks park on the property unless they're unloading. The reason is, Walmart doesn't own the property; it's leased/rented. The landlord/property owner makes the rules.
I think Swift is garnishing my paycheck making me pay for a tow.

Start with driver payroll and ask for a supervisor to give you an explanation - write down their name! Find out who authorized the deductions and speak with them as well. Find out from a operations supervisor if there is a location that you can park the truck that they will approve and pay for. Get it in writing and get a name!

Aside from all that you gotta make sure you get some permission. I know some don't and risky rolling dice but 99% time i ask they give permission but that's for just groceries all Walmarts have banned trucks for the most part except unless loading and unload stuff you still won't be allowed to do a 10-hour there are a few that actually have truck parking somewhere on the side or back but those few and far between and its still better ask a manager if its okay do a 10-hour break.Chinatown Thanks this. -
The question is why are you parking the truck in an unsecured place? You’re company driver for a mega they’re making bank and paying you peanuts have them worry about truck storage have them pay a dropyard to securely store the truck on your off time. Anything happens there NOT YOUR PROBLEM.

Are they planning to get rid of you or preparing for you to quit? You would think thatIf they wanted you to pay for the tow,
1. they would have contacted you and made an arrangement to deduct a bit, like $100/week…something that would still allow you to support yourself and pay bills.. But the way this is going, you won’t see a settlement for a freakin month! That AIN’T cool. There’s no way I would work a job and not draw a settlement for a month, unless I owned the business.
Let us know what Swift says. Be prepared to bounce.
Luck in battle. -

Update: I was prepared to pay it if I had to, but it was a shock to see my check garnished without a heads up.
The truck was towed out of a Walmart I usually leave my truck (bobtail) at when I'm on home time without a problem. We have a dedicated account with Walmart and we're usually allowed to park at Walmarts without an issue.
I talked to payroll and they needed a receipt for the payment Swift made to the towing company. I called and got the digital copy of the receipt from a different department in the company and sent it to payroll. The funds are going to be reimbursed through direct deposit by Monday.Last edited: Dec 15, 2023
