And many of them offer decent benefits for driver and family too. Some companies in the food delivery industry even have them available from day one.tscottme and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

If you were let go earlier because you clipped a curb with one of your trailer tandems -- you can avoid that same mistake in the future (in part) by watching/learning from the following video:

Go to UPS, put in an application to work on the dock, and note that you have a CDL on the application. They will ask you about it, tell them you have no experience and be HONEST about it. Wait until they have a driver's opening and then apply for it after a while working on the dock.TripleSix, Bro_Dave, Another Canadian driver and 2 others Thank this.

my question is this if Western express turned you down what is exactly stating on your background report regarding the accident accident alleged by TMC?
Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
These are all OTR companies except for Sysco, Estes, and Old Dominion. . Are you only applying for local positions with these companies? Because if you are, that's exactly why you are getting turned down. Here's the reality. It's not exactly a drivers market for local/regional right now. Every once in a while, someone inexperienced gets lucky and is able to get on a "home daily" job. That's a small number of CDL-A holders. If you really want to be local, or home weekly, you're gonna have to give up something in the short term. You need a year experience. You need to go back.and reapply, and put OTR as your desired job because that's about the only way, in this freight market, a new driver can break into industry. Local companies have become choosier, opting to go with experience. Experience and a clean record is key to get the job you want in this industry. Now you're in Harrisburg. These companies have a terminal in Carlisle...go apply, choose OTR, hit the road, get some experience for a year, get home, go local......in that order.
Knight Transportation
Schnieder
Crete (not sure if they take new CDL-A holders).
Pride Transportation, KLLM, CR England has a presence in that part of PA. CR Englad does a lot of Hershey loads in that area. They have a bunch of day cabs parked at that Hershey, but you need to take what you can get so you can get the ball rolling. Trucking is about what you put into it, and if you're unwilling to put anything out to get what you want, then you might as well go be a bank teller.snowlauncher and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
You could do the same at Pitt Ohio. They're hiring dock workers in Harrisburg, and I know they have dock-to-driver programs at other locations. Put in some time, show them you're reliable and easy to work with, maybe they'll have you spot trailers in the yard from time to time.

I was sent home during TMC training to get my cdl. It happened during the road test, they sent me home and told me that I needed to get my cdl somewhere else. When I got home I took it my home state and passed. Been struggling ever since then to find a job and the termination is not helping.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
