I have that now, but they are quick to say the loads are thin and give me crap. They aren't working for me to succeed, they work to take of their headaches, so I get the shaft often, but I'm home every day. Today I am running about 150 miles (roundtrip) and unloading at a worksite which usually time consuming. If you take the 12-14 hours I have to earn today and divide what I will make today, it's pathetic. It's been like this for all of January. I understand it's the slow season but there are a few other factors that make it worse. There are loads going out, I'm not getting them and that to me, is all I see.

Funny, I always count the twelve weeks from NYE to St.Patrick's day as "winter" in Ohio. We are in week five already!

I say go for it..after the elections everybody will be looking to buy trucks again. Now is a good time to buy while the inventories are high. There is never a good time to buy a truck...just the time you swallow your fear and go for it!

What if the country as a whole fails another iq test come november?

this part aint directed at you @Freddy57 in particular, just my humble thoughts:

its always a good time and always a bad time to start a business. Lotta people fail “it was a bad time to start/ its not me its….” Because they’re failures that are gonna fail at whatever they do and blame every other thing and person for their failure. Some people succeed: and will succeed, as they do WHATEVER it takes to succeed.

Whole lot of luck is making your own- because the only thing falls in your lap on chance is bird ####.

I agree wholeheartedly. Those that succeed do so because they are willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. If we get another bad election result...well, we are all going to pay the price. In the mean time, if this is something the OP really wants to do, then he should do it while he still can. I would rather have tried and had a chance to live my dream even if only for a short time than never to have lived it at all.

    Agreed.

And if you do fail... you can always go back to being a company driver. You'll always have your cdl to fall back on.
