OMG.
Just call WE and tell them you have a really good offer and you are going to explore it. Then tell them that you have to find work asap, and you will keep WE in mind as a goal in the near future.
Don't wait, they could fill that slot quicker than you can read OMG in this post. -
You start with WE and might not even make it back in time for your job 2 orientation.
As in stuck out on the road -
the temp job starts Monday the 5th. WE orientation starts the 21stslim shady Thanks this.

yea man…a job to have some money coming in, MONEY IS TIGHT! I got bills to pay. The trucking job is 3 whole weeks away. I wasn’t gonna make it financially till then.
-
Is the job you're starting Monday with a temp company or is it a full time permanent offer. What does it pay? You may be leaving a better job to go to western express. How long have you had a cdl and what's you're experience.

Sucks to be you. But, it is what it is.
I sure wouldn’t worry about missing orientation. WE like all the megas are nothing but driver mills. Probably turn over 50% or more of their drivers every year.
Just give them a believable reason to reschedule your orientation. If they ask for details, say it’s family related. That will shut down any other questions.
The recruiters all have quotas they’ll be happy to reschedule. After all you will still be considered a warm body which is better than no body at all.
Then if something better manifests call the recruiter and tell the him/her/it that your situation has changed but you would like to consider them in the future. The recruiter won’t care. After all you were never a sure then until you got to orientation anyway.
Keep in mind at a large company like that you become a number when you contact a recruiter. From that day forward that’s all you ever will be to them. They know they will hire and lose a certain % of their drivers every year. In the end you’re a nobody, just a number.Last Call Thanks this. -
These posts are the best pieces of advice. Heed the words of 2 wise men here lol.
OP, I'd work the temp job right up til the orientation date. Then there's no gaps in employment. You get a few dollars in your pocket with the temp job, then head to Western. You'll be making money right out the gate with Western, and probably better money than any temp gig if you play your cards right. -
He’s talking the other job if I understand correctly. He’s pondering how to tell the current job when he goes to orientation for WE.Chinatown Thanks this.
