There’s a huge lot near Richie bros in Detroit that has been filling up with old Yellow, Holland and YRC equipment all last week.
I can only imagine the costs involved in moving and selling all those units. Especially since most have been setting for over 6 months. Frozen brakes, dead batteries……good grief…..

If I remember right, the auction company paid for the towing and storage as part of the deal to sell large portions of the equipment.
I think Estes had first dibs on the newer trailers. The older stuff we are speculating will end up South of the border. -
I chalk it up to "If I were running things, I could have made a profit". There's usually enough dumb stuff management was doing to make it appear possible.
Appleton Coated (paper mill) has gone out of business 3 times since I started driving. The first restart was by middle management employees who then blamed the union when they ran out of money. New company was formed, fired everyone and rehired at "prevailing wages", then made a surprise picakcu face when their "efficiency plan" didn't result in any labor savings. They didn't technically go into receivership, but sold out at a firesale price.
Same story with a bar/restaurant down the street from my house. It seems like every two years they go out of business and some one else tries. On paper it seems like a good location, layout is fine, it's just a little too far from downtown and the hotels so it doesn't get a big bump from the packer crowds.road_runner, IH Truck Guy, dwells40 and 3 others Thank this. -
"But but but... This time it REALLY will work cause our plans are better than the last ten that we're tried".
As I said earlier. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Rumor has it there will be a buy out option. I am going to take it and buy a new paramotor.Siinman, dwells40, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this. -
What’s the percent chance we get our vacation money paid out?
-
I wonder how the WARN lawsuit is going. I am sure a class action would also recoup the vacation/personal day pay issue.
-
It would be pretty funny if the company won that lawsuit. Like they didn’t know they were going out of business?? Prove that to a judge.dwells40 Thanks this.

I don't think they have much of a leg to stand on. They didn't pay into the insurance fund for several months then when people found out and threatened to strike the company acted surprised.
Like intentionally leaving your car lights on all night and then acting surprised when your car won't start. Unforseen dead battery caused me to be late for work. The whole light thing is obviously not related.upnorthwpg, dwells40, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this. -
