I haven't seen them set up in any of their usual places in a long time. Whenever they were set up they always had signage requiring trucks to stop and at least one CHP unit with them. I don't know how they were in other areas but up here they always made it a point not to delay anybody. They'd wave you through the inspection area if they already had a truck they were working.
If the CHP officer, usually a creeper cop, wanted to take a look at you, that was a different story. They pretty much do whatever they want to.

I believe they are gradually doing away with CARB being in the hen houses because this year truckers need to start getting their emissions checked by 3rd parties. This year you only have to get your truck checked once, starting in June. My inspection is in November (it goes by the last number of your VIN). Starting in 2025, you have to get checked TWICE a year.

this is actually a much smarter and efficient way for the feds to check emissions, just have people with emission trucks have to do a yearly emissions inspection in a certified place that would make everyone get legal.

Yeah, I hope this means that we won't have to worry about CARB being at the scale houses. I believe it's $30 a year to register your truck with CARB. You can go to any certified tester near your home base. There is a list of testers by zip code on their website.

I saw an article awhile ago that CARB was putting some sort of sniffer at scale houses.
It said that it could tell if your truck was in compliance just running over the scales.
    Anybody ?
