It's definitely not a thing in KY. Was a yearly chore to take my car to AutoZone, pickup a can, and recharge the AC right around May. Not sure a coal powered state is a good basis for environmental protection though lol.

 

It’s currently about $15 a can at Wal mart. About 3x the price within 3 years. I’m usually stocked up with at least 10 cans. Haven’t paid the higher prices yet. I’ll be needing 5 cans soon. Good to know I may find it cheaper on Facebook. Lol.

 

You can buy those little cans anywhere. I was talking about the big 30 lb bottles.

Yeah, that makes more sense. I could imagine a lot of 'handy man' DIY HVAC jobs went poorly with those 30lb bottles.
