See New York is so petty. That is what you call double dipping. They have companies pay for the sticker, pay to use the thruway, and if they cited you for not having the sticker, they'll get more money.....maybe that's triple dipping lol. You're right though. It is important to.pay attention to little details, and they definitely cause monumental issues.TB John Thanks this.

Yes you’re are playing on words 1st you have no idea if any truck driver has been arrested for not having a tag on a trailer. if so where did you get that information?2 I have no idea about every single incident but most large carriers when they buy new trailer’s they aren’t delivered to there home terminal they are delivered to customers lots where they have a drop and hook customer a lot of times to build there trailer availability at a customer.they have been registered and the tag will be mailed to the home terminal. The trailer that has been placed at a different location will be loaded and ran to the home terminal that is not illegal and not uncommon it has a tag appointed to it just hasn’t received it your trying to say people are arrested because they have never registered it a simply driving without a tag that is entirely a different story

Now you’re trying to compare apples to oranges not having a Ny permit sticker or the permit paperwork is a completely different situation.but even then there’s not an arrest there’s a citation.I thought you said you do a thorough pre trip inspection why did you not know you didn’t have a Ny hut permit sticker or even the paperwork b4 you went into Ny ?

First of all I disclosed there’s was two different issues to show how anal New York State can be. Second I had already disclosed to my company the issue with the HUT sticker, they said they would send it to my home terminal and at that time the stickers were on back order,my truck wasn’t the only truck with the issue-some of the trucks had HUT stickers installed some didn’t,just the paperwork stating that the HUT sticker was paid for. Either way, the citation went against the company, not me.

Badly Made Fake License Plate Leads To Big Rig Driver's Arrest In California
Regardless if the vehicle is a passenger vehicle or a CMV some jurisdictions will take a hardline stance towards fake registration.
I don’t about other companies but with my company all of our equipment is registered in Indiana (we have a terminal there) plus the plates have our company insignia on them so as to deter theft or other illicit use of the plates. Plus the plates are bolted to the license plate holder until the trailer is ultimately retired and sold.
Lastly our new trailers are usually picked up at local dealers and routed to the nearest terminals (depending on the location) but that’s a different matter.Last edited: Apr 21, 2024

If that is truly from a Western Express trailer you can just about bet it has "Wiil work for food God Bless" on the other side

Look very carefully above the 1-800 number on the mudflap, you can just barely make out their “America’s Finest” motto on the mudflap!

Part of their problem is that they use those generic Tennessee trailer plates, which make them easy targets for theft. Companies like my exalted place of work UPS, and few others put their company logo or insignias on the license plates to deter that.
When I was working there I knew of a at least two drivers that literally lived in their trucks-no home residence, just PO Box number to send/receive mail. Worked out for them I guess but I can’t imagine the pay being so low to that point!
OTOH,this is Western Express we’re talking about so with that company anything goes…

Catching up on old threads. Some states take this very seriously.
I just got a brand new truck with a temporary registration. I rolled through an inspection station in Texas this week. The nice man in the very crisp uniform asked me where my license plate was. I politely explained that it was a brand new truck and that I had a temporary registration. He said, OK, but where is the temp tag? I said I'm sorry, I don't know. He asked where it was registered and then asked if Nebraska issues temp tags and I had to admit I didn't know. I felt pretty stupid, frankly. He waved me on after looking at the registration and I immediately called to find out what the deal is. Nebraska doesn't issue physical temp tags, fwiw.
There's no way my company would ever tell a driver to cover a wrong tag with cardboard. I know they're uptight about staying legal on everything, which is why I wasn't too worried, and which is also one of the reasons I like working for them. I wouldn't work for a company that tried that.motocross25, Lonesome and mjd4277 Thank this.
