No oversize permits,no insurance,no authority, and the truck hadn’t been registered in 16 years. No problem!!!![]()

I feel safer now that these guys are off the busy highway. Probably an old farmer moving his own junk.
Flat Earth Trucker, 2Tap, Numb and 1 other person Thank this. -
Own junk or not, gotta have insurance for one thing. Especially on public roads-even dirt and gravel ones.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

Down here in rural Louisiana farming country, back in the 70's, if people didnt have far to go, they'd just move it with a farm tractor. No harm, no foul back then. I know now is a different story but, I've seen my friends & farmers around doing that. Nothing unusual. Heck, they could call the sheriffs office to block traffic if they needed to cross a busy hwy out in the country.
As far as the situation here... if he had just put some old carpet down on that floor board... he'd probably been alright..

Knowing Iowa they probably would’ve gone through the trouble of getting underneath with a crawler, even on a dirt/gravel road and spotted that hole a mile away.
The fact that the county mounties spotted this truck first and then called in the DOT means that the driver screwed up big time.
That driver is in a heapa trouble!Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Chances are his relatives will be the judge and it will all be dismissed! Really no different than moving a piece of oversized farm equipment. Farmers do what they have to do to get it done!
‘Olhand and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Big difference between moving farm equipment and part of a house!!
If that thing had a couple of red flags mounted on the back maybe DOT wouldn’t have given it a second thought!

I drove trucks like that over 20 years ago, but they were tagged and insured.
Flat Earth Trucker, bzinger and mjd4277 Thank this. -
should've had a triangle on the back. Then he would've just blended in.
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Instead of “Long Wide Load” he should’ve put “In Tow” like those Mexican road trains do. DOT never stops those guys.
Bud A. and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
