So it is my very first drop ever without the trainer, who was drop n hook only, OTR. My first is a Live unload.

Im at the receiver after checking in at the guard shack, waiting on the side with another guy waiting behind me.

Guard advised “someone will call you with where to go but wait at x spot for now”

Its been 3 hours now, no call yet. Is that normal? Appointment was at 1130 and I was here at 1120. Meanwhile, tons of other trucks are in and out no problem without waiting like me and dude behind me lol

im not mad just curious, i get hourly too so

Depends on the facility, depends on if it's refrigerated. If it were me, I would just walk over to the guard shack and be extremely friendly and just say, 'I had an 1130 appointment and I was told I'd get a call for a door, would you happen to have any sort of update?

Welcome to trucking! Lots of potential reasons for the delay, just be patient and get used to it. One day you sit for hours waiting on a door, next day you will be in and out in 20 minutes. Just gotta roll with it.

Also this is a good opportunity to throw your dispatcher under the bus LOL.

"Sorry to bother you, but my dispatcher is blowing up my phone wondering when I will be out of here."

I never wait 3 hours… after 40 minutes I’ll remind them about myself. reason for being delayed might be because they take care of company trucks before they take care of OTR trucks. Just keep going back to guard shack every 40 minutes or so…

Sometimes appointment times get mixed up, as I'm sure many can vouch for.
I have arrived only to be told my appointment was 4 hours earlier, or not until tomorrow, or they didn't have me listed at all.
