Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a load of produce and resell it to a terminal market? For example let’s say I buy a load of watermelons from a farmer or a wholesaler, is it possible to later sell the same truckload to the Chicago Terminal Market?
I would love insight on this because I thought of this idea and don’t really know if it is viable.
Thank you!

Used to haul a lot of produce from "produce brokers"
They would buy a load, tell you to head east and call the next day. Usually sold to someone by the next day.wore out, Regional, Short Fuse EOD and 2 others Thank this. -
Read your contract with a microscope, there is a fine line in cargo theft and you in turn "brokering" the load. I would guess that %90 of the time it would be cargo theft.Regional Thanks this.

would you happen to know where they bought this produce from? Wholesalers? Broker? Importer? Farmer?
-
Were these produce brokers buying the load from the farmer and repacking it or did they buy from a packer, wholesaler or importer ? What was their source?
-
If you pay for the load yourself, and you take ownership of the load, sure you can. Good luck with that, though. Maybe if had a consignee lined up before you bought the produce. Good luck with that too. Lot of sharks out there.

from where can this produce be bought?

Go to any farms, large or small. Understand there will be end user agreements.Regional Thanks this.

what do these end user agreements entail?
