This is why I don't mind the nanny device that honks the horn if I open the door without setting the tractor brake.

Used to be in the late 60s and early 70s you would load at the dock at Coors. That's before they have the drop yard down the road. Well, I was sitting in my dad's truck at the dock. I saw a Brisson driver pull in and park his truck on the dirt lot across from the warehouse. Car drives up man gets in the car leaves 15-20 minutes later I see this truck start rolling across the road into the parking lot and then Off the alleyway that goes underneath the warehouse. It's just sitting there dangling off that little ledge busted the fuel tanks Open diesel running everywhere. Being I was only 15 at the time I was in total shock.

Fleet I used go wrench for had bought 100 Stoughton vans. Year 2 the maxi springs failed. Like in 2 weeks. Had one complaint, then two a day later. It was like wild fire spread out over 5 states. They failed on a schedule. Sure warranty covered it. But the springs got weak, ever one of them. It was a failure in the heat treat for the spring wire that made the foundation brake spring. Lucky no body was ever hurt. Other fleets had the same trouble. Of it has tits, tires,or tracks. You will have trouble.

Used to see that on the vac truck fleet I helped look after. Seemed like all I ever did were brake chambers for a few weeks. Then the next month it was u-joints, then suspension bushings etc.

It'd been embarrassing to die with your "weenie out". But memorable.

Isn't it weird how those things happen. I swear if I did a clutch/trans, or diff. I did at least 3 that week.

Until you have to tow one out of a truck stop at 2am... I find the ####### horn and unplug it before I go release the brakes.
