GP is far from all broker loads lol. Was probably 60/40 contracted versus spot market when I was there. Bout 50% drop and hook too.
I mean, they offer warehousing and brokerage services themselves and have been steadily growing for years.
Seen some interesting company mergers

Sorry but JCT leaves a bad memory with me. And I believe I could've had a disability suit against them, had I been smart enough to know it back then.

All the way from South Dakota to New York, down the east coast, and as far south as Louisiana has various drop and hook locations.
Courtesy cars at the almost brand new terminal, local drivers to deliver loads around Chicagoland, no trucks older than 3 years, relatively good CSA score, almost 600 trucks, rental cars to orientation, never shorted anyone's pay that I've heard of, pays on a W2.
Not saying they're the best carrier to exist, but definitely not a 'step down' for Westside Transport. GP got away from the Chicago mess and has a legit thing going.Last edited: Jun 24, 2024

I remember some 30+ years ago, there was a rumor going around about a BIG merger in the works; Overite, Stoops and JB Hunt were supposedly going to merge, and the new company was going to be called.......................JB Stoops Over!!!!
the merger, of course, never happened; it seems that there was greater scrutiny given to large mergers like that after all the blowback from the proposed merger of Fairchild Semiconductors and the Honeywell corp, where the merged company was supposed to be renamed "Farewell Honeychild".......
Thank you......thank you......be sure to tip your waitress......cuzzin it and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
MS carriers. What a company. I would still be there if the owner hasn’t screwed around on his wife and so to get back she sold her 51% to swift. Thanks *itch.
Story I heard anyway. Needless to say I left swift exactly 1 hour or so under their control. How they have gotten so large is beyond me. My dispatcher begged me to stay. Said 17 others left that same day.
Seriously MS was a great company though.TNSnowman Thanks this. -
