The anti-monopoly laws on the books in this country have basically been ignored for decades.

There are still several 'players' in the tanker business; just the nature of the business will always limit a true monopoly as different specialized equipment will always keep a few players here and there.

I haven't read Modern Bulk Transporters "TOP 100" list in years; has anyone unseated Trimac as the largest tank carrier in north america?

Montgomery and Chem Leaman spawned Quality Carriers and their franchise system did in the 90's what KAG is doing today.

Not to mention the carriers not included in that TOP 100 list; in 2003 I was sitting in the room as Ron Dana addresses the operators and drivers from Krajack as they were absorbed and long before his later acquisitions.

He mentioned where he would be on the 'TOP 100" list [ fairly close to the top] IF he wanted the world to know his business.

More accurately the US post-deregulated tanker business would be considered an oligolopy [a limited number of large competitors] which is not illegal here.

Is that just the US Trimac numbers? I believe their Canadian revenue would still make them larger overall than KAG but it does look like their 'buy 'em cheap and stack 'em deep and price things cheaper' philosophy seems to be working, for now.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's just the US numbers

Think Steve is good friends with one of the board members of kag and just decided it was time to step back from the crazyness running the ship and work towards retiring.
