Standup rubber, 24.5” rims
-
go to. machine shop they’ll raise fifth wheel with steel drill it and remount with steel between fifth wheel and frame
-
Not too sure what you mean by standup rubber Sons Hero. Like get taller tires?
Have you done something like this before? Trying to figure out the cost effective way to do this correctly. -
Yes, they cut me a square steel tubing and had holes measured and they drilled them out.
Truck still like that 15+ years later, old truck i drove years agoElmerFudpucker Thanks this. -
Many O/O will run 22.5 tires with low pro rubber. 24.5s with standard, or standup tires will sit higher, so will buy several inches of height. Probably not the most practical option to switch, fifth wheel could be remounted, or replaced as was mentioned above. What do you pull, tank?
-
Ok I'm going to look into taking it to a metal fab shop this weekend. Thanks
-
Yessir I pull a tank. It does sound pretty expensive to replace the whole set. My mechanic said it only needs to com up 2 or 2.5 inches. You think tires could do that?
-
We’ve got a set of those fabbed risers we took off a truck years ago, they’ve been collecting dust since they were taken off. If you are interested I can get you measurements and a pic tomorrow, I’m certain they were for a holland frame- if nothing else a pic might get you an idea what they need to look like

11r24.5 outer diameter is 43.4” mostly
275/22.5 is about 40”
that’ll gain you 1.75” nominally
Might go with a taller stand/riser underneath the 5th wheel plate as another option. Prolly cheaper than both alternatives offered if you labor it yourself by a bunch.
fleetpride or another parts house ought to have a few options if you check with them on heights available.
I just changed my fixed fontaine stand from 10” to 6.25”
/// its setting in the bed of my pickup I’ll put a picture here of what you’d be looking for
