Pulling out of town this morning and going up to Crete to take a load going down to Cullman, AL for whenever i can get it there tomorrow. I haven’t been there since early this year.
This starts 4 weeks out on the road before i go home for 11 days and fly to northern Michigan to visit family for a week. Hopefully i don’t start getting cabin fever before i get home.

14 more days until I’m home

Got unloaded in Riverside yesterday morning, strolled over to Costa Mesa and got loaded. Recap hours got me to where I wanted to stop for a shower.
Apparently a driver passed away at the Barstow TA yesterday. I overheard a TA employee telling the story to the Verizon kiosk worker.
Called in today to let my dispatcher know that I couldn’t make delivery tomorrow. He happily said ok. Then I asked him what makes a service failure a service failure here. He said doing what I did and letting him know ahead that I couldn’t make it clears me (in this case, I’m sure there are variables) but ideally I could have let him know during load acceptance (didn’t know then as this was before spending the hours needed in metro traffic). But typically the service failures are when it’s a driver piddling around and not HOS reasons or lack of overall time to get there.Last edited: Aug 14, 2024

Even if you piddle a little, as long as you let someone know, and CS can work it out with the customer, they still won't spank ya.free spirited1, wulfman75, IH9300SBA and 2 others Thank this.

Clean truck. Clean trailer. At least for a few more hours. Tomorrow isn’t looking so good for the rain department in Wisco.

meanwhile i’m dragging 3972 around. I thought they got rid of all these trailers by now. These are getting to be up there in age, and it shows. Even the 7000 and 7100 series trailers are 10 years old. i’ve had to swap empty’s at customers because i’ll be picking up from a paper mill and they require newer trailersfree spirited1, IH9300SBA and motocross25 Thank this.

Anytime I got free reign to just “grab an empty” I always grab the oldest one I can find cuz they’re air ride lol Yet when I do, I immediately hafta swap it, and when I get a new 8xxx series I’m live load/unloading it and it kicks the #### out of me for a week. Maybe I need to switch up my theory.DonRobbie, runningman0661 and IH9300SBA Thank this.

What was/is their theory on as to why they went to non air ride? Up front cost savings? Maintenance savings? Or, bags of dog food don’t know the difference?IH9300SBA and motocross25 Thank this. -
Haha! Well I think all 3. But yea Eric on the trailer side in the shop told me in orientation it was a cost saving measure. Like you said initially and maintenance wise.IH9300SBA Thanks this.
