Laziness. I grabbed a trailer out of the yard with a Cresline load coming to WI and when I got empty it looked like it hadn’t been swept in weeks. I counted 7 broken seals in the pile when I finished cleaning it. Seems to be the norm to just leave things and let the next person deal with it.

If the DOT believes non functioning ABS on a trailer is a safety issue and can ticket you for it, they should hold everyone else to the same. We can get a ticket for a top marker light being out but yet some people drive the most POS car down the road with bumpers falling off and the whole nine yards and nobody ever looks twice at it.

I had one of those back in the early 90s a 78 Olds cutlass my backup ride made a left turn at a intersection heard a noise ran over something looked in rearview mirror and it was my front bumper spinning in circles in the middle of the intersection parked at the Walgreens ran out grabbed it drugg back to my car took the license plate off and left it thereKnucklehead, motocross25, IH9300SBA and 1 other person Thank this.

Never known anyone to get a ticket for that personally. Mentioned it to ODFL Regional Safety Man in a meeting once, because it seemed like 2 out of 3 pups had ABS issue. He said in his time in that position he has never seen a Trailer ABS DOT warning or ticket come across his desk?cdavis188 and motocross25 Thank this.

They're amateurs and we're supposedly the professional.gentleroger, 1951 ford and motocross25 Thank this.

Exactly. That coupled with the fact they know if they ticket those people they either can’t pay the ticket or won’t pay the ticket, it’s not worth hassling them over. I got pulled into the Dumont scale west of Denver last year, and whilst pleading my case they had someone else on the scale and the officer in there openly told the other officer “eh just let em go we probably won’t be able to understand him anyway”.IH9300SBA, Knucklehead, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this.

This is what I have at the house @Modlite11 and I use it for everything. It comes with a chicken rotisserie thingy but I never used that so I can’t speak on how good that works. But for everything else it’s great. 1700 watts and it’s like $100 at Walmart. I’m gonna throw my microwave out of my truck into the ditch and get me another one of these to put in its place. Love it.
Next to my microwave for scale.free spirited1, IH9300SBA, Modlite11 and 2 others Thank this. -
Idaho, Washington, Nebraska, and Mississippi have all made me cycle the key during a level one to make sure the trailer light flashes and that I didn’t have any ABS lights on in the dash.IH9300SBA and runningman0661 Thank this.
