Tanker guy here...routinely run 300 or so pounds over on my drives.

APU extension will cover you. Indiana will give you a look if your over on your steer tire rating. Make you your steer tires say 7,300 on the outside of the tire.

Piss off all the scales you go through. Pull on the scale at 5 mph then hard brake right when you get lined up on the stop line, then release the brakes. Get that scale rocking and rolling like you want to break it. They'll turn the green light on, especially if you have 20 trucks behind you.

Or they may not? You're call

Yep, you burn approximately a pound of fuel every mile.

That's right but it splits evenly...1/2 a lb on the steer, 1/2 a pound on the drives...

SO.. 1 miles every lb gross if you get 7.1 mpg

SO...40 miles takes 20 lbs off both your steers and drives at the next way station.

Deisel weighs 7.1 lbs per gallon

how long have you been driving?

20 pounds is not even outside of the scale tolerance.

edit ---- the tolerance is 300 lbs at most scales.

So you are good to go!

The same CAT scale will show your weight as +/- 20 lbs.

If anything, I would probably move the 5th wheel back a notch. Personally I don’t like running heavy on the steers.
