I have to pick up at Pepsi in STL in the morning going back to Lincoln, then I’ll probably be done for the week because I want some time off.

It ain’t just you. I was on the phone with our buddy Ryan and he asked me if I got the fleetwide message about the ELD and had he not said anything I probably never would’ve seen it.Adolph Coors and cdavis188 Thank this.

There was a fatality accident on 23 earlier this week involving a CMV. Then the KHP Trooper heading to it, broad-sided a POV at an intersection and killed the driver. Two small children were in the car as well.Knucklehead, motocross25, cdavis188 and 1 other person Thank this.

Lord yes. Small company I worked for didn’t have anything in their trucks, but at least they would idle. Company I’m with now has fridges and inverters, but no apu. Opti idle that shakes the heck out of the truck when it comes on and shuts off. How am I supposed to get a decent nights sleep when every time it comes on or goes off I wake up thinking someone has hit my truck?wulfman75, MidWest_MacDaddy, runningman0661 and 2 others Thank this.

i don’t know how some people live in KC. It seems like every other day i’m reading an article about a homicide or something. I don’t think here in St. Louis is any better though
MidWest_MacDaddy and motocross25 Thank this. -
Had a local driver in Fremont approach me and ask about Midwest regional. I told him what I knew (given that I was only on it for a couple of months and have been OTR for almost a year). He said that most of the local guys had been given an ultimatum to go to regional or OTR or be let go and he was thinking about MWR. Apparently they are keeping the lowest seniority local drivers (presumably because their per hour rate is lower). If the guy wasn’t pulling my chain I’m assuming we’re going to be sitting at shippers and receivers in Nebraska a lot more in the near future.
cdavis188 and motocross25 Thank this. -
Well that sucks.

Having lived near both my take on it is this. Most the homicides and ne’er do wells in KC are concentrated to a certain area or areas. If you stay away from that is fine. In St. Louis it’s pretty well anything inside the 270 loop is trash and the closer you get to the river the worse it is. When I moved to KC I couldn’t believe people walked around at night and shops were open. In St. Louis once the streetlights come on everyone bars up their shop windows, locks their doors, and good luck. People have literally been hit by bullets at a Cardinals game that flew in from outside the stadium.

The whole area needs to be bombed, bulldozed and started over, but no one asked me.
MidWest_MacDaddy, Knucklehead and cdavis188 Thank this.
