First Fleet is in Murfreesboro. firstfleetinc.com
I think they run mostly grocery chains accounts out of that home office location. Mostly Kroger. They are a regional account.
I'm not a big fan of them anymore because of the AI baby monitoring that they have started integrating in their fleets over the past 2 or 3 years. No driver facing cams .... yet. But you said you weren't worried too much about forward facing cams so, maybe its ok for you. They have the following to close, lane departure, speed (going down hill etc), rolling stops, etc. All that AI stuff.
They do have Volvo's & Petes. Usually 3 year old & less trucks. They do keep their equipment up. I can say that about them. If it aint right, get it fixed! Pay is maybe average but that depends on the account & the contract you're working under.
    Really good benefits though.
Depending on the contract your on, they have yard mules, city drivers, local, regional & OTR positions.
First Fleet runs dry vans & refers. They do have offices all over the US so, if you need to move around later... They run a lot of different dry van & refer accounts throughout the US.
I'm working on a Georgia Pacific account .. cardboard & some paper.
They have some Flowers (bread products) accounts. West Rock (paper) accounts and a couple of grocery accounts.
Truck speed varies per account. Anywhere from 66 to 71 I think. I think the grocery accounts are at 71.
Depending on the account, they could have a decent sign on bonus & some have guaranteed pay... and that varies in rate & day / week guarantee.
Uniforms (if that's what you want to call it). Mighty poor choices in my opinion.
They do have pre-pass & I seldom ever get pulled in across the scales. Very seldom.

In the end, it's a job. It's not the top of the line, but it's a job and it's certainly not the worst. I'm only staying here because I only have 18 months until retirement. I really don't wanna be moving around this late in the game. There's good & bad about this company just like any other. A person could easily do better but you could do worse too. In my opinion, they're average.
FYI, I've been in a truck seat in one manner or another since 1982... 43 years.

Oh ok, that explains why I saw First Express pulling a FirstFleet trailer the other day. Does that mean First Express runs the whole country like Averitt and FirstFleet do or they just keep it more regional?

I don't remember now. First Express drivers seemed to have a better attitude.

Beacon Transport in La Vergne, TN runs regional dry van. New, well kept equipment from what I've seen.

    bryan21384 Thanks this.

There's also Premier Transport somewhere in the nearby area. They must do regional cause I lived by a guy in southern KY that was home 2-3 nights a week. And there's also Heartland Express. Wouldn't be my first choice, but I know Nashville falls in a couple different regional divisions there. Terminal is in Lebanon.

Hogan and Ryder also have accounts out of Goodlettsville. I believe it was touch freight, but pay advertisements were over 80k/yr and home a few nights a week

The two guys who started FF & Averett, actually started out as co-owners of First Fleet. I guess there was riff somehow & one of them left and started Averett. Same colors & same design.. just different companies... & competitors.

I dont know anything about First Express.

    bryan21384 and Chinatown Thank this.

They're light, you're never over 16,000 pounds even with 28 pallets. it's just merchandise, keychains, clothing, cups, picture what you buy at those stores, it's 7'-tall pallets of that, often poorly loaded so yes, pallets fall over on occasion and you have to clean it up, but not heavy.

Also, I'll add, Justin Cannon is the boss there.

If it's the same rack I'm thinking of, yes, a lot of local tanker outfits load there. There's another fuel rack over off Centennial Blvd, on the west side of Briley Pkwy about a mile north of its junction with I-40. (If you're familiar with the little baby Pilot that's at that exit, the fuel rack is straight down the street from there.) As for the TA itself, I was under the impression that it was closing down a few years back...but I also haven't been bear downtown Nashville in about 2 or 3 years, so I'll defer on that to someone else.

And has been since about 2010. Even before. (Says the former Antioch and Goodlettsville resident.) It's even spilling down toward (and past) Noblesville...before long it'll reach Eagleville...
