Company name and location.
Dont want to dox myself and i work for a cult like company where not singing the praises of the company gets management really, really mad. Northwest but not in a major city like seattle or portland.
Type of work.
LTL. Im just a lowly whipping boy. I do P&D, Dock, Linehaul, cleaning, sweeping, etc. Whatever my several bosses tell me to.
Required qualifications.
Class A, doubles/triples, hazmat, tanker. Nearly spotless record, no recorded accidents in past 3 years. No crap on MVR.
Typical work day.
Go to sleep around 0000-0130, usually get called around 0530-0700 to tell me my start time for the day. Often 0900-1000. Drive an hour into work, find truck assuming it isnt taken or broken, get trailer/trailers, put pallet jack in them, frantically run around town throwing #### off the trailer as fast as possible, sometimes 3-4 trailers a day. All local city driving, maybe 10 minutes between stops at the most. Get yelled and cussed at by miserable old ####tards at half of the stops. Usually 1-2 times a week someone wants to fight like this is some cowboy bar. Typically done with the troglodytes by 1600-1800. Work dock from that time until 2130-2300 usually. Drive an hour back home. Get another 5-6 hours of sleep. Weekends i get a typically 10-12 hour linehaul run. Squeeze in a 34 usually. Management is pushing for me to run recaps though and start working 7 days a week.

Benefits.
Healthcare is cheap, never used it, medical dental vision etc. 2 weeks PTO a year. Thats sick and vacation together. Taking "sick time" is dubious at best. Prepare to be on the ####list of management for 2 weeks if you do. Vacation needs to be put in for the year in january. Management wants vacation taken in 1 week blocks and gets pissy if you dont give 2-3 months for them to "plan" around it.
How do you like your job?
I ####ing hate it. Trucking has sucked the soul out of me. Im making well over 100k a year. Probably closing in on 130k. But im burning down 65-70 hours a week. 2 hours commute each day. No life, no hobbies, no friends, no girl, no pets, nothing but work. Big corporate micromanaging and pissed off customer attitudes and #### nanny equipment.
I think another 5-10 years of this ######## is going to end up with me jumping off a cliff. #### trucking and this god forsaken industry. Each new trucking job makes me more money than the last but makes my life more even awful. I tell everyone that the future of the trucking industry is more and more bleak. It aint going to get better. Its been getting worse and worse for 40 years. I advise everyone to stay away. I wasted years getting to the golden gates of 100k+ LTL and its the worst my life has ever been. At least ill be able to buy a gold plated rope to hang myself with

OTR pays didly. I'm stuck where I am because cost of living and houses are so insanely overpriced. I need that money. I'll do this garbage for 5-10 years and save as much as possible. Then I'm getting out of trucking. Have enough to pay a house off or whatever and hang up the keys. I'm counting down the days. Just wish I didn't start this #### at 21. All of my youth is gone and wasted. Now I'm getting old and having health problems and have little to show for it. I haven't enjoyed life in over a decade now. How long have you been at it? I also started at 21. I have taken many breaks, but end up right back. Looking back, I may have wasted my time on those “breaks” and didn’t go for some training in other fields.
getting back into it again and may be doing it for the long haul, no pun intended lol.
I hope things improve a bit next year and onwards, but who knows. I’m thinking, if I am going to stay driving I am going to work on buying my own truck. Never wanted to do so, but it is becoming too difficult to deal with these trucks and how the companies set them up. I would like to be able to set the truck to my liking, to keep my sanity lol.
Removing all the audible warnings/sounds
Ordering the dinnette/murphy bed option (Volvo 860 or Cascadia)
Putting in a bigger fridge
Having toolboxes installed, specially in the trailer if I own it, as well.
If Im going to live this lifestyle might as well try to have options. It won’t be about the money. I love not having too much responsibility. When the truck is yours, the real fun headaches begin
