Get elected & change the law if you think it is unfair.

Blah, blah, blah, you can drink responsibly, Hey pal, there's a whole LIFE going on out here.

It's people like tscottme that make it hard for everyone. Ignore those people. If you can.

I don't think the regulation is unfair. I'd leave the regulation as it is now. You claim it's unfair but do nothing about it, other than complain.

You can work in a job where you aren't subject to federal regs, but if you choose trucking you volunteered to get judged by federal regulations & roadside I sections.

If they get pulled over they will loose their jobs, rightfully so.

How does being told the regulations are being enforced whether you like it or not making anybody's life hard. People that pretend you don't have to obey regulations you don't agree with is going to get more drivers in trouble.

I don't address those because the scope of the discussion was the regulations. The other part of the regulation is an alcohol test as a random test, this catches a lot of people.

never cared for the stuff but after having to show up and pee in a cup on Friday to prove what a good boy I’ve been, I start to wonder about all the time and money wasted on testing, as if habitual offenders are ever stopped by it.

Beer in the truck: IMO the company policy is the company policy. Their truck their rules. If it’s MY truck…I know how to be an adult about it. If you’re parked in a truck stop, that’s private property…same reason you don’t need a commercial driver’s license to get some yard hosteling jobs and nobody can say boo about beer in farm equipment in an open field. You’re not on a public roadway. Now, pull out onto a public roadway I would not advise having anything in a CMV. Drink your tall boy and get rid of the evidence before you leave in the morning and it will likely never be an issue.
