Sounds like nothing has changed , I worked there in 2012 and as with most companies these days it was just smoke and mirrors.

Not for cameras but there are alot bad drivers and because of these drivers every company nowadays must have them to protect themselves from bad drivers. Perfect example seen one today has no reason be on the road he was watching Netflix on a laptop mounted on his dash was on my way to big lake and he was watching it like was normal and was a company driver was tempted call company if I see that same unit number do it again I won't be calling the company ill be calling the sheriff who I know in big lake he loves pulling truckers...

Yep, companies are very disingenuous with pay. I took a job a year ago that stated 0.60 cpm. after 2 weeks I get a write up because the camera caught me going over the company's speed limit of 68 (went 73 down a hill), and my pay was reduced to 0.55 cpm.

had a ride along with texas dps whos a friend of mine shows me how bad was and its bad.
The general rule of thumb he said if he were to stop any random truck driver he would bet his boat all day long that they would been texting or something before he pulled them over and he has a nice boat. He stopped 13 and sure enough every single of them which was the first trucker who passed us right after the previous trucker he said and its not just the truckers but everyone equally as bad... -
I'm sorry, but I have to call b.s. on everything you just said. I've been a company driver for Bay & Bay for 17 months. I was hired in at .60 cpm. As I understandcit, you get a little more if you've been at your previous job for a year or two. I can't remember which because I didn't qualify for that. Now, they have lowered the starting pay, just like almost everyone else has. I believe it's .55-.62 cpm. Yes, .07cpm of that is bonuses: fuel, safety & performance. I was leery of that because I'd always heard companies use that to cut your pay. Bay & Bay does NOT, but if you do lose one of your bonuses, you always get it back at the end of the quarter. So, you might lose it for just 3 weeks. And you'd have to be a pretty crappy driver to lose all 3 bonuses in the same quarter.
I've been late from time to time. Construction, wrecks, shipper delays. Mostly no breakdowns. The equipment here is good, both trucks & trailers. My Cascadia's ABS went out on Wednesday & my truck was at the dealership overnight. That's the only time it's needed repair the whole time I've been working here.
Nobody has ever asked me about my political affiliation, even when I wrote "TRUMP" on my rubber faring before my last truck wash. Nobody cares.
As for covering the cameras, I cover mine every time I pee in my truck. Over a year & nobody's said a word to me about it. I let the truck roll down mountains, nobody's ever said anything to me about it, but note: for safety's sake, I keep it below 85 mph. That's only 10 over & by then I'm basically at the bottom & fixing to go up again. And I don't always let it get that fast, but I have from time to time. The point is, no complaints from safety.
Do I have complaints? Certainly. The planners are mostly idiots. They don't understand hours of service & they have no clue what it's like to need a parking spot in the middle of the night because your delivery was at 2 a.m. The night & weekend people are powerless (not their fault) & overall, the planners seem to hate & resent the drivers. They will get revenge if you say the wrong thing to them. The company supposedly frowns on this, but none of them ever face any consequences for anything they do.
On the bright side, the shops work fast, the miles are good, they haul mostly candy & gum so in all my time working there I've maybe been to one place that was tight. Certainly no stupidity like parking a mile away & walking to check in. No checking in & then having to find a parking spot where none exist for a 10 mile radius (Chewy, you suck for that!). Mostly drop n hook. They stack you out on your loads so you usually know where you're going next. You can get the trailers washed inside & out as often as you want to. Tractor washes are once a month & engine wash is not included. Denton has a truck wash you can use. Eagan has an actual wash bay & during business hours (M-F, 7 to 3) they'll wash your truck, trailer & do a washout for you, free.
I leave my trailer at the truck stop & bobtail home. Nobody complains.
My truck goes 70, but I'm told the standard is 65 on the foot, 68 on cruise. Also, they truly do have an open door policy here. Nobody can answer their phone all the time, but they DO answer over half the time. You can also email, use the QualCom & we have a texting app that is almost instant. Most of the drivers get along & it's a good place to make friends, but as with any place, some of us are real jerks. They are just few & far between. I've job-hopped a lot before coming here, so I stay. But if I were to quit, it would ONLY be because of the planners incompetence. -
A smart company has forward facing cameras only. It shows how the accident accutally happens. Think about it. First off, if you think being filmed all the time in a private area is fine, you a communist. Second, a good lawyer for a stupid Karen you ran over will make you 100 percent at fault because they had a nano-second of you blinking on the camera. Bingo! You weren't paying attention. This isn't fantasy, it happens. God love you folks who say driver facing cameras are benign. As my Kentucky grandmother would have said, "isn't he special!"
hope not dumb twucker, Gearjammin' Penguin and snowlauncher Thank this. -
So the Anderson family that owned bay and bay sold it ? ..if so I'm not surprised.
Rumor had it in the breif time I was there that the owner was a professional fisherman and his wife was an alcoholic .
It was a #### show that bled drivers and dispatchers .
