I don't believe that chp would need to resort to readjusting your brakes . If your truck is good shape you will have no problems. I have been inspected probably at every inspection station in California, and have never had a problem in any of them, some are tougher than others, Rainbow on the 15 south is notoriously tough, as is west 10. But have never suspected them of backing off brakes or anything close. And the post that states Caltrans does not inspect is correct, Caltrans takes care of the highway system, nothing to do with inspections.

1 south bound is not a big deal, go down it legal and you will have no problem, but if you go over the top hot you may have issues. Moving the scale to the top of the hill would make a good deal of sense. Driving in CA is not a big deal. If you can;t handle it here maybe you should consider a new career. One of the easiest states to drive in, Stay out of the left lane keep it below 62 and you should not have any problems.
