I'm set to receive my CDL in a couple of days. Schneider pre-qualified me for a team driving, dry van, otr position. It is 18 days on the road and 4 days home. What should I expect from this job? What kind of pay should I expect and what pay is too low to consider? Can anyone give me advice on this situation? Any comments are appreciated. Thank you.
No company will send a new cdl school grad out alone. You'll have to go with a trainer until you're qualified to go solo. Where is your location; state & nearest town/city? ~ If you're set on Schneider teams, then go for it. Some Schneider or former Schneider drivers will give you some thoughts on that.
Team driving? As a brand new driver? With a total stranger for a driving partner? May God have mercy on your soul.... -- L
Why don't you ask them? Personally, I wouldn't team drive with the person I love most in the world; my wife. Doing it with someone I don't know would be out of the question. NEVER
I wouldn’t do it… and i worked there..Schneider sets new drivers up with a what do they call it… it’s not a mentor but it’s a trainer.. forget their name for it, blue shield on their tanker trainer trucks. They’ll train you, you won’t be released on your own til they say you’re good. maybe 3-4 weeks.. you won’t sleep in a moving truck, it’s not a team it’s training. when he shuts down so do you. You’ll either be in the jump seat on duty not driving ir he will be and you’ll drive.
I just didn't want to get offered terrible pay and not know it was subpar. I thought team driving was like splitting the responsibility and having someone watch your back.
The position says "Tean Van Truckload truck driver" Is this not even a good way to get my foot in the door?
