That’s my dirty secret.
After several years, I called to drop a subscription in the pickup truck. They offered $7.99/month for a year.
It annoyed me they never offered me a break for loyalty prior to this.
So I tried it with the big truck - “Aaah, just trimming expenses, too pricy” And they cut it to $7.99.
I’m back on full price, but about to call their bluff again. If they cancel, no problem. Because as soon as either personal vehicle was canceled or expired, I’d get bombarded with emails and mail asking me to reinstate for $5/month.
They shot themselves in the foot with the app , if you ask me. Like - REALLY didn’t understand their primary customers - truckers and travelers.

For me the big value are the live sports channels. I'm watching the MLB games recently (most have been really exciting) & college football. A TV package with every game of every team would be maybe several hundreds $ for NFL. A 3 or 5 year plan puts the monthly price $3-5/mo, plus the other channels & the ability to rewind or pause.

Yeah I've been paying $6 a month for many years. It's dirt cheap and well worth it. What do you mean by the app shooting them in the foot? I didn't even know about the app until I got my latest job. What I love about the app is that I don't have to get a subscription in this company truck, I just connect my phone to the truck radio via Bluetooth and stream my xm that way.
Maybe you need to upgrade your radio to blue tooth capable to see the benefit? Most newer trucks now are the same as cars with Bluetooth capabilities. Heck I don't even need an earpiece for hands free phone calls. Don't even touch the phone to make or receive calls. It's all done by buttons on the steering wheel and you can see contacts and incoming calls in the digital dash. Some things on these newer trucks are really nice to have.tscottme and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
That’s what I mean - if an app comes free with a subscription, why would I pay for 2 separate vehicles.
They lost all those extra vehicle subscriptions - I just use the app on a phone, when it used to have a subscription to the vehicle.tscottme and rollin coal Thank this. -

My wife has it for her vehicle. I use the app mostly.
4.99 a month, or so, for their high-end tier. Some promotion she got when she called them.
Between it and Amazon Music, I'm covered when it comes to music/podcasts/whatever.
I like you can listen to concerts. They do live ones, but I enjoy the older ones. Got to hear a Jimmy Buffett one the other night with the wife. It was a labor day show in VA we had gone to back in 08 or 09.
I can think of worse ways to spend 5 bucks a month.

Best thing I ever did with XM was, back in 2009 they got short of cash and offered a lifetime subscription for $499. It worked well until sirius bought XM. I think I transferred it twice after the sale and both times they said the agreement was with XM and sirius did not have to honor it, they honored it after complaining and saying this is the last time they would do it.
They found themself in a class action and lost. I can now transfer the subscription to a new radio for the rest of my life for a $35 transfer fee (old fee was $75) which I just did last month. Went smooth as butter.
Back in May 2021 they offered 5 years for $180 so we got that for my wife's car and since I retired the lifetime is with my pickup. Only class action ever, that I thought "dang that worked out good"
Life time offer will never happen again, but they throw enough offers out there that you don't have to pay full price.blairandgretchen Thanks this.
