Sorry! Hope you get to feeling better soon. I still don’t have my voice back after 9 days. Hubby says it’s the quietest he’s ever seen me. LOL

Very slowly getting better. I need my voice to contact residential and job site drops. My boss (ie terminal manager) is did that for me yesterday, he asked how the heck I put up with some people. Lol.

Got a Dr appointment this afternoon, so probably more meds and at least another day off tomorrow most likely. Hopefully you hurry up and get better!!

My trailer kind of smells like a recycling center but it’s clean at least. Swinging over to Jackson, TN to pick up some fixtures going to Joliet so hopefully they don’t give me a hard time. i’m not picking up anything food grade or something like that so i should be okay

Sometimes i look at driving jobs with the city, county, or state and then they wonder why they can’t get enough people for said jobs.

I make more than double what some of those jobs do

$21/hour to drive a trash truck around town.

Somehow the state pays even less for a class A job

I’ve got a neighbor that works for Republic in Grapevine Tx. Goes in at 4am and off about 2:30 every day. Off Sat and Sun unless doing storm cleanup. That is double time. Makes a little north of 70K. Pretty sweet gig.

i also don’t know if those jobs regularly have overtime or not, which could be a game changer based on how much overtime you get since obviously it would be time and a half

the city has some pretty decent benefits too. Certainly better than most trucking companies

This guy gets a couple hrs everyday. Plus has a rider with him to tend with loose bags on the ground or if the container is turned the wrong way. Wouldn’t be a job for everyone but he seems happy with it. He drove OTR for years and got fed up with that.

Check before you take any government job to make sure it will not reduce your social security.

Your Social Security benefits might be reduced if you get a pension from an employer who wasn’t required to withhold Social Security taxes. It's called Windfall Exemption Program (WEP)

I had 33 years in a public pension, and they did not take out for Social Security or Medicare. After I retired the state dropped our group health insurance.

I had to go back to work to earn the quarters to become eligible for Medicare. Since I only have 45 quarters, they reduce my Social Secuity due to having a public pension that did not take out Medicare or Social Security.

I have my public pension, but my Social Secuity is reduced to around $130.00 a month.

I gave APAC a shot to hire me after they lost a few last year, more as a joke, and got told there's no way they could afford what I told them. I said, you turned over a loaded truck & end dump, move truck driver completely wiped out a fuel pump at Rod's on W. Crawford ($42k) and had a guy holding his phone while driving....I'm cheap compared to that? 20230530_070347.jpg
