It's my understanding, and this is second hand so take it for what it's worth. @Dave_in_AZ had just finished a power only load in Missouri and asked the OM to find something with a good ROI. So while he is inside the Pilot truckstop, the OM goes to work on the BCO loadboard.
So Dave sees this oversize load the OM booked and thinks to himself that he will run it under the stealth of darkness without permits or escorts to increase the ROI even more.
What Dave didn't anticipate was meeting a young DOT officer full of vinegar who was also a Cleveland Browns fan. Dave explained that his cat had booked the load, and when the officer asked to see the incredible cat who was computer literate, he pulled back the sleeper curtain to reveal this:
The OM was dripped out in Steelers gear, which ultimately led to the officer writing several citations and throwing the book at Landstar. Dave has appealed in the DataQ citing the extreme prejudice from a Cleveland Browns fan, but the disposition is still pending.Last edited: Nov 4, 2024

Hey, thanks - just read it. Yeah, pretty nonchalant and lacking of culpability or action -
Thanks LS for ####### any potential revenue out of Missouri for a month for my operation.Midwest Trucker, cke, exhausted379 and 8 others Thank this. -
You know - good question. I bet it’s a stack of violations before they take that step.
I could ‘find out’ what action has been taken by calling Workman, but the problem has apparently become systemic, if they already had a suspension in Feb 24.
It’s ‘not fair’ to the ones that play by the rules - but life’s never fair.
I noticed in the brief, they weakly stated that Inway wasn’t affected. Like that f’n helps me any. Nothing mentioned on ACTION or MOVING FORWARD FROM THIS - just “meh - here’s the bad news that our 3 recent years of hiring standards have brought about “
F’n joke.sawmill, Midwest Trucker, cke and 15 others Thank this. -
Now - don’t forget, felines have played an important role in history - @Dave_in_AZ OM has not yet had the distinction of military service, but time will tell.
sawmill, Midwest Trucker, cke and 8 others Thank this. -
What is the difference between Ranger & Inway @ Landstar?cke, Deere hunter, Feedman and 4 others Thank this.
-
Different DOT numbers. Used to be ‘Independent Freightways’ and ‘Ranger’ , there’s also ‘Express America’
As I understand, when Ranger or Inway safety scores go to the dogs, they hire on new BCO’s under the better one.
I may be wrong.sawmill, cke, exhausted379 and 9 others Thank this. -
I know you are late to the party, but all this Missouri misfortune falls squarely on the shoulders of @Dave_in_AZ. To save money and increase the ROI, he taught the OM how to drive the pilot car.
Unfortunately for Dave, the OM started moonlighting as an Uber driver in his escort vehicle which had Landstar logos on it. The OM crashed the car startled by a cucumber, killing the passenger but she survived and left the crime scene.
Lamdstar has been under scrutiny ever since.cke, IH9300SBA, Deere hunter and 6 others Thank this.
