Ok, if you can walk in on day one and get $48 per hour and OT after 8 and 60 hours per week then take it. Take it and never look back! That's more than UPS linehaul drivers get at top scale per hour. That's $3360 per week or $174,720 per year. That's more than many O/O's make as a net. That's more than members of congress make. Don't look back, do pass go and do collect your $200...

 

Food service is a tough road to navigate. Did it for about 8 months, and had enough. Rotating product in the customers cooler, delivering into basements with a 2 wheeler. Think long and hard about it. Good luck whatever you decide.

 

Would beer and or soda/pop delivery be an appropriate first step?

You’re lucky if you can get $20 an hour after practical. My health insurance is $400 a month out of pocket and that’s just for me. Lmao I count that against my pay, you should too. lol 48 an hour. Half that and you’re doing good.

 

Not in WA. According to WA state Labor and Industries prevailing wage for Journey level truck drivers in King County WA is around $79 per hour....... and apprentice and ready mix wages start at $63.54. Of course cost of living is significantly higher there also.

That’s crazy, left handed cigarette talk. Now I just cannot even imagine getting hourly pay for a food service gig. When I did it, you got paid by weight, case count and stops. $25 transfers, $35 back hauls. If you ran out of hours a hotel stay. How would they stay in business paying $48 an hour plus overtime? Any overtime went to all salaried position trainers. If a route driver called In sick, a salaried position would take it. Maybe I need to get back In shape and start playing that game again. Yeah, that can’t be right.
