FWIW, those guys are hired by companies run by their own 'paisanos', who often skirt the regulations to get a driver into a seat. Don't worry, YOU wouldn't be somebody THEY would hire, anyway...

There are more companies than just Swift. Now most of the MEGAs want documentation for your work. That's why it may be harder for you to find something, but keep looking.
You may have to find something that is less glamorous, but how glamorous is trucking really? These MEGAs have nice facilities and equipment, but once you're out there, you really can't notice a difference. -
what point?

Apply to Western Express, if they don’t take you, you’re not getting hired any where. Not having a paper trail of work history may as well be a felony nowadays.

I wouldn't wish WE on my worst enemy.
Chi Town Steers Thanks this. -
Beggars can't be choosy....Chinatown Thanks this.

Anywhere you go, WE or another mega will suck for about 2 yrs. Gain some experience and have a clean record and have plenty of options then hopefully.
Speedy356 and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Sure they can. Flipping burgers is better than WE and at least you know what you're going to make every week and get some free food. I've never seen a WE driver that didn't look homeless.Last edited: Dec 31, 2024

Right! Western Express fills a niche for many drivers trying to get a start in trucking. Carolina Cargo used to be the niche company for that for years. Now Carolina Cargo requires a clean record and two years experience.Lonesome Thanks this.
