I mentioned it some pages ago, maybe you missed it, and I really don’t know if you’re interested in local work. WBT’s Starke terminal is hiring, you can take your truck home. Mainly live bottom but actively looking for flatbed drivers, they work with Lindsey precast a lot. A good friend of mine, and co worker for years went to work for them about a year and a half ago in the panhandle and does very well with them, the company I work for recently hired one of their retirees to run part time and he confirmed Starke is a good terminal to work for and the income potential is there, it’s not a 100K yearly job but I’d say for a good worker it’s mid 80’s, home daily. Best of luck to you either way in whatever’s next.

The home daily part would turn me away. I did that home daily early in my career and I was always in a rush to hurry home, eat, kiss the kids goodnight have a few minutes to talk with the wife before trying to get 5 or 6 hours of sleep before having to get up and do it all over again the next day. It takes me about 24 hours off before I get out of "trucking" mode, and this was before there was ever a 14 or 11 hour clock to do battle with. I don't think I could even do a home weekly job at this point. When talking to recruiters, they will always ask if I had a problem with staying out 2 or 3 weeks. Many of them are flabbergasted when I tell them that 2 or 3 weeks is nothing, the last half of 2024 I went home one time for 10 days between July 4 and Christmas, and it would have been less than 10 days if we wouldn't have been dealing with the after hurricane power outages.

You never know. You might enjoy a little more home time now that you’re older and your kids are as well.

“The country's largest trucking firm, which keeps its books in U.S. dollars, reported Wednesday that its fourth-quarter profit dropped by a third year-over-year to US$88.1 million from US$131.4 million due to intense competition and weaker demand.“

Aww, too bad, so sad, only nearly 100 million in profit in 3 months. Guess we will all be on beans and rice moving forward.

On a previous article he also blamed Tforce, calling it a rock in his shoe. Bottom line, he is making excuses for doing what Daseke did and over extended themselves to expand quicker than they should have.

since they own 100+ companies, $88.1 million means that, on average, each company made less than $1 million in profit. Imagine the uproar if, prior to the buyout, SPD only made Daseke that much profit. Heads would roll, and they'd be merged into another sister company. Oh wait, they were "partnered" with another sister company..

Well, things haven't improved. No load out of the house today, even though they knew my PTA when I originally put in for hometime 3 weeks ago. So another ####ed up pay week. I am half tempted to just deadhead to Toledo and make a surprise truck drop off next week. They don't plan ahead, so why should I.
