Just have to post about this company. My roommate drives for them -- they're a small reefer company (less than 120 trucks) and he has been very happy with them since he started there in February. He has been running hard and gets home to Grand Rapids, MI a couple times a month. He asked his dispatcher Bree to get him by the house so he could be here when our dog went in for surgery this past Thursday. He was in CA at the time with a load going back to TX. She got him a load from TX to Detroit that delivered Wednesday so he could get home. He got to spend time with his sons in Detroit Wednesday and got to GR early Thursday am. Took the dog to the vet and he was supposed to come home same day. There were some complications with his surgery and he had to stay until Friday. Bree got him a load -- pick up in Plover, WI on Friday, but he told her that he couldn't do it because he wanted to be here when the dog got home on Friday. She said no problem and she would see what she could work out. Another driver picked up a load in Detroit on Friday that didn't have to be in TX until Monday a.m. She routed that driver through GR to swap his load for my roommate's empty trailer. The other driver took the Plover, WI load and my roommate didn't have to leave out until Saturday to take his load to TX. We would have understood if they couldn't work this out -- after all, it was his dog, not a person who was sick, but they understood, didn't give him any problem and worked it out so that he could be here when he wanted to be. This is not the first time they have worked things out like this -- got him home for his great aunt's funeral, worked around my schedule so I could ride along with him a few times, etc... It's nice to know that there is a company that will work with their drivers to help them be involved in life outside of their truck. Like I said, he works hard for them all the time, he's switched up his plans to help other drivers with their 'emergencies' and they return it to him whenever he asks. Just thought this was really special and wanted to let everyone know that good companies are out there.

BTW -- the dog is doing fine.

I believe they are all owner operators. I used to run into one of their drivers at the Jamestown New Mexico Pilot quite a bit. He had a dedicated route from Amarillo to So Cal and back and had nothing but praise for them.

They do have company drivers. I see their l/ps and their chromed out 780 volvos every so often in my part of Central FL. Also they do have team drivers running Fed Ex doubles. This company is one of the few to offer a $1 buy out at the end of their lease. I'd like to know more about the company side as I have heard opinions from the l/p side. One plus I do know is the drivers are like family.

I know that I have tried for years to get on with them. Hard to get return phone calls, return E-mails, even took a psych test for them, and never any more contact from them. I was trying hard because they have a dedicated customer 2 miles from my house.

Don't do it.... as far as a company goes they are horrible. When my husband started he was told her would make 1700.00-1800.00 every 2 weeks as owner operator. We have not even made that much since he started and that was running almost 8,000 miles every 2 weeks. Every company driver was put on the fed ex acct and had to take a pay cut they didn't have a choice. My husband has been encouraged on several occasions to run illegal by his dispatch. The only person who seemed to show any heart is the head fleet manager. Wether you lease or run company driver for them you usually end up stuck, screwed out of detention pay for one reason or another, or getting loads from maine to some place almost 2000 miles away and them expecting a solo driver to get it there in less than 24 hrs..... as far as the lease goes it is a bad deal 2800.00 a mos for 3 yrs general escrow is 0.07 a mile then you have insurance, and a few other administrative charges plus gas then they nickel and dime you for the rest of your check until you have a penny left when the break even point is at 2500 miles ..... unless you plan on starving for the next 3 yrs and not getting home when you need to I recommend going with another company.

by the way the pay per a mile is a little on the low side as far as owner operators go its .87 cpm.
