I had someone pull my service air line once at a truckstop, but never had anyone pull my pin. But just to be safe I ALWAYS do a tug test before I pull away after parking...

Next employer is going to call last. But they might wait til you are in orientation.
    Better be upfront about it

I was watching when that happened. Just left the Loves right? But I thought I saw a video after that happened when you went to go get the report.

Yeah, I went down to the CHP office in town and got the actual incident report of it. Somehow, I cannot find my copy of the report and the CHP looked for it for hours and could not find it in their records either. No worries though, I got another job lined up and was smart enough not to mention the incident to the recruiter.

My truck has the auto one and you cannot unlock it when truck is off. Never have to worry about that issue at least.

There is a pin you can pull for emergency release on some and a physical air line you can cut to disengage the safety lock on others to manually release it.....though most drivers dont even know how to take stem caps off god forbid where the button or hose for manual release is. But still good practice to eyeball.

I always do a tug test when i stop my truck and leave it unattended. Ive only dropped one trailer and thats because my 5th wheel physically broke off my trailer.....id like to keep it at once thanks. That was humulateing enough and it was a physical failure not a driver failure XD

Werner defiantly put that some where and I’m sure they put trailer break away too.

you should have checked to see if there was space between the fithwheel and trailer apron. You should have checked to see if the fith wheel jaws was latched around the king pin. You should have did 2-3 tug tests so make sure you were all set to go.

You can go many miles with a high-hooked fifth wheel. A guy I worked with lost a trailer on a tight turn getting on the expressway. Tried to claim the fifth wheel was defective. It wasn't and the handle was in at the scene. If the fifth wheel grabs the base of the pin, which is larger and meant to keep the pin from popping up, it may even pass a tug test. But it won't last forever. Some people look for a gap by glancing at the connection from the side. You can be fooled, and the gap may be on the other side because the ground isn't level. The only way I feel confident is to get under there with a flashlight and see that the pin is hooked properly with that disk on the bottom visible. Your photo shows your handle in, I don't think you were sabotaged.

If they do decide to terminate you ask them if they will let you resign instead. Resignation looks better than termination.
