4% every minute for me... lol the only time I turn the truck off is if I'm inside a warehouse or its nice enough to sleep without heat/ac..
What is a normal idle percentage for company drivers?

It’s possible, I was under 1% last week. Drove around 1800 miles. Some city driving. Not sure how they measure it tho. I was lowest in my fleet for the week, so this is lower than average. I just turn my truck off first thing as soon I set my brakes. I idle for about 5 minutes in the morning to make coffee too.

4% is doable but tight. For me persionally thats right out the window. PTO nough said. But with my last rig i had an APU and i kept idle time to around 10% or so year over year even if i had days where i was close to 40% idle. But it also depends on what your doing. Stop and go in LA every say? Good bloody luck. Going across 80 from SLC to omaha. Not hard at all usually.
Just depends.mjd4277, D.Tibbitt and austinmike Thank this. -
I used to see how high I could get my idle percentage lol.

We used to get yelled at all the time at my first gig for being over our allowed perc3ntage. Can’t remember what it was. Remember seeing a couple of drivers from same company at some truck stop sitting there drenched in sweat lol. We told company do what you gotta do, we gonna idle.

Ups came up with this dumb idea several years ago saying that at every stop the drivers must turn the engine off even if it takes them 30 secs to drop a package at your door. Must of these guys have 100 stops a day . How is that good for their diesel engine regeneration? Never mind ups pays the air police to continue run dirty .D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
