I could never justify $1,200 on a phone as I only mainly use it for calls, messages, X, TRANSFLO… base comms. But I keep the phone until it dies. I get like 4-5 years out of them and currently only have the SE2 model.

Now I will spend a bit more on my iPads… but again, I get years of use from them so per year it’s not too terrible.

I’m hopelessly content in my little walled garden. But also glad there is Android out there to help keep the market competitive.

I like iPhones myself. I hold onto mine until they won’t hold a charge and then some. LOL! Currently have an 11. Before that, I had a 6 and used it until I had to darn near keep it plugged in. What version are they on now? 16? I remember when I got this one because it was about 3 weeks before my mother died and that’s been just shy of 5 years. I use mine almost 24/7 when I’m working. Talking, texting not so much, but I listen to music & audiobooks, watch some tv or use the hotspot to watch on my actual TV, and scroll on the book of face or here on TR. I guess that’s how I justify the cost of them. I just hope this one holds out for a while longer.

I’ve always been impressed with just how long they stay practical to use. (No experience with android to compare) I had a 4S for 4-5 years, then upgraded to the 6S Plus for the bigger screen for use in a green truck, then downsized a few years back to the SE2 but combined it with an iPad mini. (So my larger screen use for TV, YouTube is the iPad screens) I might hand this SE2 down to mom as she has even more basic needs in a phone and she is still rocking the 6S Plus (which can’t be updated to current iOS) just to standardize on the USB-C plug across all my kit. Probably get the low end 16e.

I’ve been pretty happy in general. Perfect, no… but Rock solid.

I had a Sonim 8 (android) for 5 years. They don't make em anymore, or else I'd get another one. I was bamboozled into an iphone16 by my wife (was supposed to get it for free, but they wouldn't take my phone in trade). Mad that I'm paying 1200 for this phone. I miss my android.

Have any of you tried the T Mobile box for home internet and WiFi? I’m getting shafted again from Spectrum and looking to make a change.

There’s been a fiber company that’s been aggressively laying down a lot of fiber lines in town and i jumped on it as soon as it was available. I was getting shafted by Cox for $140/month for 250mbps internet.

Yes you read that right. $140/month for INTERNET ONLY.

My fiber is 1 gig internet for less than half the price Cox was charging me. I have a feeling they’re gonna lose a lot of business in Salina. They were the only option in town for fast internet for a very long time so they could get away with charging absurd rates.

The Clearwave fiber rep was basically frothing at the mouth when i uttered the words ‘Cox internet’

Well after much deliberation and going back and forth between whether i wanted to do it or not, I’ve finally bit the bullet and will be entering into the lease purchase program here at the company. There’s been several people both on and off the forum who have had success with it, and i feel like this is the best way to get into truck ownership.

I figured that this was the best time personally, since I’m only 25, zero kids or wife, and low expenses. Also in terms of our industry at least, there is a more favorable administration in office. I’m also on and plan to stay on SWR, which means i will rarely if ever go to states with high diesel prices.

I’ve weighed the pros and cons and have spent considerable time researching and looking into the nooks and crannies, so i have a solid idea of what i’m getting myself into. As you may all know, i’ve driven the vast majority of the past couple months at 65 vs 68. That was partly so i could see what difference it made to fuel economy. When i get my lease truck I may even bump it down even more to 62 or 63 to see what that does. Running your own truck is not a race. Fuel is your number one cost so if i can reduce that as much as i can, that means more money for other stuff. Yes, having a 70 mph truck would be nice and i’ll probably use that extra speed on occasion, but the vast majority of my driving will be becoming a Prime truck basically. I’m still unsure about a couple things like what to do about health insurance and tax deductions, but you can’t learn if you don’t try.

Sadly i won’t be able to use the truck i’m in now because it only has 70k on it, and Mike doesn’t have anything on the lot that is suitable, so he will have to pull a truck from someone. So if any of you have a truck around 250k and it gets pulled, I’m sorry. :D

I've had it for about 2 years. Works great. Haven't had any issues.

That’s the problem with a truck flease. Lease with 250-300 K and wore out by the time it’s paid off. Plus no more paid time off or vacations. You’ll have to run way more miles than you like to now to make it pay off. Plus all the headaches that go with truck ownership. Good luck.
