I love my wife more than there are words to express it. When she goes away for a day or two to visit family and whatnot, I cry, (seriously).
That said, she rode with me exactly 2 times and she almost got let out 2 times. First time was at the welcome center at the SC / GA border. Second time (about a year later), was at a casino in F nuts Oklahoma.
My point is this; relationships aren't always easy. They're less easy when you're chained to the hip with someone 24/7.
Good luck. My best advice would be to find some time to yourself......both of you.

To be fair, they were on 'vacation' and I was 'working' which created a mismatch in expectations. Beyond that, I'm 6'3". We are not both fitting in one bunk, don't get mad when I move to the upper bunk in the middle of the night.
Looking back, the bigger issue was I just finished work while 'she' had been twiddling her thumbs for a couple hours. 'She' wanted engagement and I wanted to turn my brain off and eat dinner in silence. Thirty minutes later, I'm ready to engage, but she's pissed off because of my attitude during the preceding 30 minutes.
I know guys who run full time with their SOs, I just don't understand how.austinmike, Lonesome, FullMetalJacket and 6 others Thank this. -
At a TA in Knoxville tonight. Wife got to see the middle of Tennessee, northern Georgia and eastern Tennessee today. Virginia, back to Tennessee tomorrow and head to 2 drops in NJ tomorrow. Traffic on I-75 was bad today due to a wreck. We sat in traffic for about an hour. Crazy people doing crazy things. 4wheelers… they’re not trained well Gus. Tammy loves to see the mountains. Her first time in a truck and I think she likes it so far.

Give her a big welcome from me.
I personally prefer the Petro across the street in Knoxville. Fuel always slightly cheaper & not as tight as place. Drive sucks pulling in, as it is rough as hell. But, just have to take it slow.
Used to also like the other TA down the road a few exits, but from my understanding it is no more. Was also typically cheaper fuel than the other. Always paid my respects to the Harley dealership across street every time I stopped there. They also threw killer parties with live bands.
Here's to hoping she enjoys it & doesn't get too bored with the non travel part of the "real" work/BS that is actually the work part of what we do.
Heck, you've already learned by now the driving is the gravy part. The work is dealing with everything ELSE!
Congrats, you two.✌️

Glad to hear the Mrs. is now on-board the large car. I hope she enjoys the journey and all the beauty that this country has to offer. My wife always enjoyed the time that she spent on different trips with me. Now it's when we travel in the 5th wheel (see my avatar). Happy trucking you 2.austinmike, Sirscrapntruckalot, Cherokee65 and 2 others Thank this. -

Walmarts were always a good option in the past & much better than the TS. Lot of times I prefer rest areas over the truck stop BS, too.
But, we are losing that option of Walmarts more & more everyday due to the huge influx of uncivilized idiots tearing up stuff with trucks & generally messing up the properties with garbage. Soon, most will not be an option.
Good example: 2 nights ago, needed to park at a Walmart in KS to deliver nursery drop at local family hardware store .5mi away. No other real options within 40/50mi & my delivery location gated at night.
The Walmart there had finally had enough of the trashing & finally initiated a truck parking ban effective as of 3/1/25.
Been there many times in the past & they know me. And, the family hardware store. So, I was allowed to stay & park. But, they are #### serious about the ban. They have had enough. Sad, what things have come to.
Glad to hear better half is enjoying herself.
NJ, eh? Hehe, hehe........
They sure aren't holding back on the new guy, huh? Hehe, hehe......
Your both are in for some fun!
Do NJ all the time. No big deal, just keep head on a swivel & utilize utmost care.
Nice thing about NJ is consistency. All the 4 wheelers are NUTS. (Trucks, too!). But, you come to expect them all to act crazy. So no surprises.
Depends on where you are delivering what you will deal with. Norwalk & city crap.....high traffic & tight quarters. Both streets & facilities. Just be carefull & calculated on everything you do. 4 wheelers have absolutely no regard for you for backing in from off street situations.
NJ DOES have some awsome rural area inside to the east that is absolutely awesome & worlds apart from the city life. Folks are completely different, too. (NY is similar in this regard, too).
Rambled too much.
I'm just glad you made it out here & excited for you that wife was able to climb aboard & join you.
Want to wish you both best luck, but knowing your backround..... I really do not think you are going to need it.
Keep keeping us updated on your progress. Sometimes, you are just going to be too busy for that, but get back when you can.
You kids have fun & rock this ####, eh?
✌️
Edit: Forgot to add.....
NJ will be a unique place in that 4 wheelers will have absolutely zero fear of the big rig at all like normal people. It's ALL of them, 100%! LOL. In fact, they have some sort of mass delusion that they can actually overpower & push YOU off the road!
I know, sounds crazy. But, report back to us after your quest & fill us in on just what your findings are.
