Just like NickBearKeeper, I understand hating to drive in LA (due to the horrendous traffic jams there), but I don't understand why you hate driving in Memphis, TN.

Why do you hate driving through Memphis, TN?

Stressful due to high crime against truckers, especially at night.

I don't even like to drive around the block anymore. Those 4 cars I pass just annoy the heck out of me. I got old and don't like big trucks, cars. motorcycles, or bicycles. I hope you all get old and retire with a better attitude than me. lol. Just kiddin, life is good. You guys be safe out there.

Memphis is one of the crappiest cities in the country, I have always had bad luck there and so have a bunch of my drivers. I loved going to Mississippi for food and stayed there.

EDIT --- I didn't see China post about the crime rate, it is higher than any other place in the country. I had a driver hijacked, had trucks parked at a customer, in a secured lot with cameras all over the place, they broke the windows of the trucks near the fence. I was robbed there walking out of the pilot, my cousin was robbed and beaten by a gang who broke into a warehouse while he was unloading his truck. We don't have any problems anywhere else in the country like we have had in Memphis.

Just hate the city and will not go there for any reason.

The Northeast (DC up to Boston) is usually the least favored by drivers outside of that area. EVERY big metropolitan city is also terrible in their own way. But the key thing is you don't have to love driving in NYC to drive into and out of NYC without a huge problem. Avoiding the thing you don't LOVE just sets you up to exaggerate the fear of that thing way beyond all reason.

Drivers 1/10th as smart, talented, experienced, careful, etc as you do it every day of the year in good and bad weather during the day and the night. You can also. They key is to have some experienced driver you can call to ask questions when you need an answer. Newbies think they have to have every obstacle knocked down and paved over BEFORE they will try something or they can only try something once they have 200% of all known info in their head and a police escort while they do that thing. That's just building an excuse for preserving your bad habits from driving a car and building an excuse to never face any difficulty. You can do it even if you hate every moment while you do it. It's not the end of the world, it just feels like the end of the world until you learn about something worse. Be a man.

The crime dilapidated streets and stolen signs make Memphis terrible. Think of 1990s Detroit, but next to the Mississippi river.

Downtown San Francisco. Not the suburbs, not the East bay, they're doable but downtown San Francisco will test you....As in you've already pulled your tarps and straps and now they want you to move. How steep of a hill, including wet pavement, can you get going on without burning your clutch or snapping a drive line?
Downtown anywhere, actually. Portland, Seattle, some parts of L.A.
