    Hey,

I’m a brand new CDL holder out of California. Got my license about 2 months ago and went with Schneider because the training was quick and I wanted to start running as soon as possible. I’ve been on the road for a couple weeks now—about a month and a half with the company total including orientation.

They’re paying 38 cpm, and now that I’ve been out here doing the job, I’m starting to feel how low that actually is. I get that starter companies don’t pay much, but I’m already thinking about what’s next. I don’t want to jump ship too fast and mess up my record, but I also don’t want to waste time if I could be somewhere better.

I’m not looking for local gigs—I want to stay OTR or maybe regional if it pays better and gets me home a bit more. Just trying to figure out if it makes more sense to stick it out for a few more months to build up experience, or if it’s worth applying around now.

Thanks, and stay safe out there

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Yeah, hang in there right now, lots of companies shutting doors, thus not hiring. At least you got a job a lot of rookies can’t find work right now… pay attention and don’t hit anything it’ll get better.

Dot Foods rents parking in Paramount and has a place in Eastvale (added after I left them).

60-something cents per mile to start, $50/day after 8 days out, $30/hr detention after 2hrs or any other delays, stop pay, some customers have additional accessorial pay, free health care at their medical facilities, fuel bonus, $1150/qtr safety bonus, etc. Best place I’ve ever worked.

Stay at schneider for at least six months, but in the meantime you could get in touch with recruiting and see if Schneider has a dedicated account you could get on that might pay a little better.
