I think I would have said "my flip phone doesn't run any apps. I'll need a company phone" instead of no. But I've had time to think about it. Many times these things come out of the blue.
MACK E-6, hope not dumb twucker and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Yeah that would have been a good plan but I let it slip I had an IPhone early this morning and they also have company phones specifically for this account. They just didn’t feel like finding one for me. I walked through exactly what the app has access to with boss man while looking at it in play store. Not only does the app have access to every thing on my phone, it also clearly states the information cannot be deleted. I’m not hiding anything but I also don’t want to voluntarily donate all my information to some seedy app. All my contacts, photos, credit card info, etc. I told him I would get another phone but I’m not using my personal phone for that. Oh well.FullMetalJacket, austinmike, tscottme and 2 others Thank this.

Ain’t it funny companies want drivers to give and give and give. But companies don’t wanna give. Sounds like they lost a good driver. Their loss. Or they could just find a company phone. Good on you to stand your ground. They might even be testing their limits with you.
Speedy356, 201, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -
What's the name of the app and why can't they just install it on the tablet?hope not dumb twucker, tscottme, Chi Town Steers and 1 other person Thank this.

I’m sure if it ends up being over, they’ll have this truck with a new driver in just a few days. I’m not sure which boss man I was talking to, but he only said I couldn’t work his account. So that’s only Home Depot store to site flatbed. Fine by me. I’m going back to the OC and hoping no one else calls tonight.hope not dumb twucker and austinmike Thank this.

I would not volunteer to buy another phone. I would volunteer to use a company phone if they provide it. That phone would also be turned off or put on Do Not Disturb for Sleeper and maybe other times.
I'm an over-sharer but I learned not to share things with employers and speak more vaguely about some things to preserve my options later on. Part of that comes from being the employee that lived closest to a pre-trucking job and after years of sometimes discovering I was being asked to do things nobody else would agree to do. For the phone, my contact with reefer customers taught me to all but deny I even know what a cellphone is because they, and the brokers, have every story in the world and will demand things I think are outrageous. Speak to the employer like he's a cop during a traffic stop. Don't disclose more than you have to and more than you are 100% sure they already know. Almost all of my employers are great people and I usually eventually treat them like family or friends, but never at first until I notice what the long-time employees have learned about the company. Also, most employee complaints are just alibis for employee bad behavior disguised as "outrageous" employer behavior until proven otherwise.hope not dumb twucker, austinmike and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Just got off the phone. Shocker. Regular boss man. Guess who’s going to Home Depot tomorrow. This guy. Guess what they figured out, how I could run the account without the app. Amazing.
