An ar for self defense in a truck is probably the worst possible option I can think of aside from other larger semi auto rifles…for one you’re not going to be able to maneuver around in a truck with a long gun unless you have a massive sleeper….like a 120 inch job or something crazy
2 it’s way too dangerous for anyone around you when the #### hits the fan and 3 it’s probably the most likely common weapon to get you in big trouble.
Get a pistol…as someone else mentioned one capable of firing shot like a judge is a great choice and way less likely to do any significant harm to someone who just happens to be nearby.
to those who don’t see a need to have a gun….have you ever had someone twice your size jump up on your step at a stop sign and try to get in the truck with you….i didn’t see much need before that incident either….yes I “won” without a gun but probably wouldn’t have if my truck had had a grab handle beside the door
Let me finish by saying I love guns and the second amendment and won’t agree to any gun restrictions until they figure out how to get criminals to comply.
Thinking of Carrying My AR in the Sleeper—Legal or Nah?

The problem with carrying a firearm on the truck is that you have to be in compliance with all of the firearm laws in every jurisdiction you travel through: every state, every county, every municipality, and every facility.
I don't have to tell you that having an AR is not going to go over well in CA, Chicago, NJ, and NY - NYC in particular. And it definitely won't go over well if you have to access any kind of secured facility like a military base, a port, an airport, a prison, or a nuclear power plant.
Also, a pistol-grip shotgun with a barrel 2" longer than the minumum is a bit unwieldy when trying to reach back into the sleeper and bring it forward to engage a threat, I can't imagine how much worse an AR with a buttstock and long barrel would be.blairandgretchen, Sirscrapntruckalot, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -

Think I am joking about that. Next time you roll in, take a look at all the equipment they have set up. They could probably tell you how much change you have. They have scanned and photographed your face, truck and its contents.austinmike, RockinChair, blairandgretchen and 4 others Thank this. -
