Did that for over a year about 6 years ago. First layoff was 15 months long. I jumped back in the truck after the layoff and never went back. Seems like they layoff conductors and others every 18 months or so.

Except for the ugly suppository-like styling, this is exactly what a pickup truck should be, simple, reliable and basic. There's no legitimate reason why a base model pickup should cost 50k.

It would look better with a Ford lightning body kit to be honest I went with a newer one to get some tax deductions out of it, but I like the styling of my rig too. If your a lease operator you can deduct business miles on your personal car as long as it's used 50-60% for business purposes and also depreciation. On that older truck it'll probably be the same just less deduction.

So it wound up taking about 3 1/2 hours to get the trailer fixed but they did honest to goodness fix it. The shop they had me take it to said trailer tape was never going to work with how big the hole was so they put a patch panel in. I thought it looked pretty good.

Bopped over to Bensenville, Illinois and grabbed a load for Beatrice, Nebraska. Dropped that yesterday and then picked up at Mars in Aurora. I guess now they want the tandems slid before you hit the gate or they’ll turn you around. So it’ll be fun with truckers trying to slide in that skinny chute.
Anyway, the load I’m under is due in Victorville Tuesday morning so I was hoping to make it there Monday night and be able to reset after I dropped it. I’ve been stuck running on recaps the last week and it sucks. Unfortunately the Echo Canyon rest area showed full on Trucker Path when I was still 2 hours away. So I’m parked in Evanston 11 hours and 9 minutes away. It’s theoretically possible but pretty unlikely that I could make it there tomorrow so I imagine it’s going in first thing Tuesday morning and it’s going to be a very slow trip back east.

672 miles. Theoretically possible...but you're heavy with a bunch of mountains in the way so forget it. I'd be surprised if you made Barstow

They started the deal with the tandems a couple months ago. Going in empty I just ran with them all the way back then I could just wheel up to the window. Too many people were dropping trailers without sliding the tandems.

    rokue and Knucklehead Thank this.

I pull the air release to slide them at the guard shack when I go back to open the door for the person and they've never said a word to me about it

    Knucklehead Thanks this.

Supposed to be a new policy next week. I foresee a) a merry traffic jam in space between the road and the guard shack and b) probably some u-turn stupidity happening on 34

    Knucklehead and cdavis188 Thank this.

This week is going to be rough for me mentally. My birthday is on Mother's Day and she passed from cancer when she was only 38. She would be 53 this July
