Brokers blacklisting me because of no inspections-Blaming Highway

As a carrier I've had a great time telling brokers "sorry, we won't work with you" on several calls by them.

So, this happened a couple months ago with a big brokerage I haul a lot for. Now it's happening way too often.

I'm clean, clean truck, good record and I don't get inspected much. In fact, it's been about 28 months since I was inspected at all. This is running about 45 weeks a year, hauling light and never routing around scales. I just don't get pulled in. I consider this a good thing.

I started noticing my emails weren't getting returned from this brokerage, not going to name them because it's not just them. They vet carriers with Highway but the problem is not Highway with this issue. Even when I called on a load they would tell me "we can't use you. Call Highway. There is something wrong with your profile and you are not clear to haul with us".

So I call Highway and they tell me no problem on their end.

Turns out it's been over 2 years since I had an inspection so they think I'm crooked somehow. This has now happened with several brokerages that I've hauled many loads for, as many as 50 or more, over a span of 7 years. They will NOT override this.

So, it's a total catch22. Most scales no longer do voluntary inspections. So i can't get freight, so I can't run freight which would put me on the road where an inspection would happen eventually, randomly, as they always have.

Should I do something stupid in front of a DOT cop in order to get an inspection? Absolute nonsense.

This rule that brokers are adopting is essentially putting carriers out of business. Good carriers, if I do say so myself. Carriers that keep their #### together and don't get pulled in for inspections.

Seems like these brokerages are looking at this completely backwards when it comes to solid carriers they have worked with for years.

I am fortunate, I only haul for 3 brokers and they don't require any of that nonsense.

Well, I was pissed off when I started this thread because it was a great paying load I was trying to grab but I left the house yesterday morning and have already run 4 short runs in 2 days and am at about 3.50/mi. so screw these worthless brokers. I'm taking your advice @TheLoadOut.

From now on the moment they tell me they can't work with me because I don't have current inspections I'm going to instantly respond "fine with me because I don't work with brokers who need inspections when I've worked with you for years. Just cancel my contract."

You know what's the most absurd part about this broker who wouldn't give me the load? The commodity was recycled paper! WTF????? I didn't really think to mention that before, I didn't really even think about it. How stupid. People don't steal recycled paper. They can't even get these loads covered usually but this one was actually paying about $10/mi.

Even Schneider is cutting small carriers.
I hauled a load 3 loads for them, on last load right before they changed their policy. Said they had 5 loads stolen so they’re cutting anyone who doesn’t haul like 15 loads/month.
I got paid and deleted their load app, I survived long before hauling their freight.

No problems for me since I started this thread, and I've hauled for several brokers who I know use Highway.

I did have one turn me down but it wasn't a load that was real important to me. I think it was Emerge?

I wonder if JB and them are trying to funnel a lot of guys into their p/o segments and maybe cobroker some volume out also

I've been inspected twice since I last commented on your thread so hey I guess I'm good for the next year at least, glad to hear no issues on your side hopefully it stays that way.

I haven't messed with Emerge.

yep, jb is into power only, Schneider you used your own trailer, but they did have power only too.
