Most tunes I've seen give way more power than the engine can make and hold together.
I haven"t seen one yet who can take a 400 and go to 450, or a 475 or 500 to 550.
They are all just everything it can do. I'm talking about guys who "tune" remotely.
Maybe the Bully Dogs are different. I know the Ag Diesel Solution tuners are a bit smarter, with a 3 position switch giving 3 different HP/torque ratings.
I have one for my truck but decided to take it off when I overhauled. It was definitely a noticeable difference, but still nowhere near the power that say Pittsburg Power will give you.
If you're all about the juice, plug the wastegate on the K31. Mine ran 55lbs boost.....for a while.
It was a hell of a lot of fun to drive though. -
Long story short, two years ago in February I put a new engine in the truck complete engine and it it had the borg 1702 on it and about a month after installation, I started having a backfire out of the exhaust. The engine builder recommended me to put a K 31 on it which I did and the backfire went away after the engine was out of warranty I found a tuner guy to tweak things a little bit with the K 31. It just ran out of steam on the top and real quick. I’m grossing out every day at 98,000 pounds and it just wasn’t feasible I put the Borg 1702 back on it with the same tuning that he had done and it was a little bit better and he tweaked it a little bit more and according to what I was telling him, he thought that I had something going on because I wasn’t happy with the gains I was receiving. Fast forward to a month and a half ago now the engine started running rough at idle and a cut out test showed that number five and number six were weak so I changed them and the engine ran normal and it even had quite a bit more power from what I started with still no EGT issues Four weeks after changing those two injectors number five filled my crank case with probably 10 gallons of fuel so I decided to get the two that I just replaced under warranty and then buy four more and replace all six at the same time and that’s when my EGT problem started After changing all six injectors the output increase was amazing what I expected right from the start. I just wanna find somebody that can tweak it a little tiny bit to get my EGT‘s back down or look at the file that’s in it right now and just get a second opinion.

Well, don't know about that...
I don't think you can find a tuner to reel it in. Maybe I'm wrong, and somebody will have a suggestion.
They can't help your EGT's any other way, that's all mechanical. You need more boost to run it like you want.
Or you're gonna have to back out of it on the hills. Is your radiator clean, as in getting good air flow? Intake gaskets good? No cracks in the exhaust manifold or turbo?
I know @blairandgretchen has been paged, already, but we'll hit him again and maybe he'll have some better info on a tuner. I think I've seen him mention one before.dberset Thanks this. -
Diesel Control Services - sorry, the link won't cut and paste to here.

I pressurized from the turbo inlet. Was able to get 30 psi into it. No leaks anywhere. Radiator is clean. Gotta keep up on that because of being off-road so much. New air filter. All it was was an injector change that pushed it to where it is. Original injectors had 200k+ on them. Must have been weak for a while. Changed like for like. I never imagined the difference would be that big. I have very limited knowledge but I’m almost certain fuel can be pulled back a bit.

Does this engine have a steel tube from the intake that supplies air to the compressor head?
If it does have a good look at the rubber hoses at each end of the steel tube for holes. -
k31 is way to small good on a 430 hp motor probably timing is ecm

N
Not an airflow problem -
You absolutely can find a tuner to do anything to it. If they know what they’re doing of course. I got a hold of my guy. He got it turned back. I had him tune it quite a while ago and everything was fine, so we thought. He did mention that he thought he was pushing it a bit harder than normal for what performance I was telling him about. Fast forward to two months ago now, I had an injector fill the engine with fuel. I changed all six and holy moly the difference. He was right. He was pushing it harder but he needed to because of whatever was wrong with the old injectors. The exhaust temp really didn’t become a problem until the weather warmed up and ambient was high 60’s plus. Now it pulls just as hard and haven’t seen 900 degrees yet.
