Nah, linehaul. Dude’s been hogging the top extra board for the 1 year I’ve been here. I like how he passes the runs to me but that extra spot up in seniority would be cool too lol

They guys at Yellow that had 5-9 years in used to take those spots and pass on everything trying to ride out their 8 on the dock or get CC.

Only worked for big green but who the #### would want to work the dock when you could run line?

    #### climbing in those #### racks, strapping every single last pallet and wrapping them in cardboard, and dealing with trying to max out cube percentage on every #### trailer. All while everyone is running wide ### open trying to have the top dock numbers each shift. I absolutely hated dock work. I'd take the crappiest P&D run before 8 hours of dock time.

Company Convenience day. It's when work is slow enough that they ask for volunteers to stay home. FxF called them CC days too, but I'm sure there's other names for it.

They've been bidding runs 3 times a year for a few years now. If they actually stick to a consistent 4 month schedule that would be nice. There were times where a bid would last 7 months for no reason, then the next bid only lasted for 2 months.

Doing trucks with every bid actually makes sense, because they divide the trucks up into groups based on where they're running. So you'd have guys who bid a specific run because they could get a truck they liked, then on the next bid move to the run they wanted and take the truck with them. That defeats the purpose of the planners trying to get certain trucks to run a certain number of miles.

I prefer when trucks are assigned to routes.

I worked for JJ Taylor back in the day, and all the far away routes and shuttle trucks always got brand new trucks.

they averaged 3-yrs old trucks anyway, but if you were delivering to out of the middle of nowhere you got a truck with a brand new liftgate.

If you changed routes the truck/trailer stayed with the route.

In my world trucks are assigned to the driver permanently by seniority regardless of where he runs. In the case of a slipseated truck it follows the driver with more seniority if he switches from days to nights or vice versa, or otherwise takes a run that’s incompatible with the other driver’s schedule.

Barely is correct. My wife quit her job due to our babysitter falling through. This was the impetus that allowed me to get on mortgage forebearance. Gives me some time to pay off some credit cards so we can stay afloat when the mortgage restarts.
