Did the man van come to life and give you a high five?

 

My step son showed me how to take a picture of an object, and then remove the object, revealing a photo with the background somehow intact. Without the original object.

Blew my mind.

It also ended my faith in any form of believability in the media. Or anything.

 

It needed a battery. The half tank of gas it had was pretty stale. Topped it off with premium and it cleared up in about ten miles driving around.

Made it home and I'm cutting grass now

 

Thank you. She made them the same we do, but probably tasted a hell of a lot better than ours. I was just curious if she made them the other way. DTibbit has eaten them the other way, but he didn't say how they tasted or what the difference was. I guess if I wanted to know bad enough I could get some corn and roll it out to masa and try it. I just don't think I'm curious enough right now.

 

Well, you mean you don't believe that's actually me?

GPT - I use 4o for everything. Some things it's great at, others, not so much.

 

We know AI sucks at depicting people. It can't draw hands properly.

Or words. I don't quite understand why it has a hard time with generating letters in images, but it's a huge hurdle.
Now for text based models like GPT, it does great at analyzing photos.
It does extremely well at being a tutor for you - if you want to learn something today, there's pretty much zero excuse for not doing it.

That said, drift and decay are real, and text models will hallucinate to remain helpful > facts, so you need to know signs and never take anything as factual - always be able to double check. It's not demons or sentient, or any of the things people try to say it is, it's just a giant word math calculator spitting out highest probability words to fit speech patterns.

 

That said, it's getting MUCH better. Teeth and fingers used to be huge hurdles, but you can see, I asked Heather to marry me, and she's happy with the aluminum foil ring I made her.
