Right. You've seen so much during your few months in the industry. Not for mechanical safety issues like brakes but you do you, buddy. Be sure to school us when you make a full year in the industry.

A tale of two companies. First is the company I drive for hauling fuel.

Second is ETON or Expedite Las Vegas or what he’s choosing to call it.

    1) If you were pulling DOT violations daily, that's on you. At Schneider all you have to do is say "send me a message saying this is DOT legal to run" and they'll send someone out to you. That said, we've all pulled minor violations to service to maximize our income - which takes me to point #2

    2) At Schneider you had protection through herd immunity. 10,000 odd Schneider trucks means they get inspected less frequently than the math would expect. As long as the driver has all lights working and is running legal weights they're unlikely to be inspected.

    3) Most Schneider violations are for tires and lights. Your prospective company has more unsecured freight violations than Schneider does, which says a lot when you're comparing 10 trucks to 10,000.

    4) Look at the number of abs light violations on each piece of equipment - one has 3 in 6 months, that tells me they're not really fixing anything.

You've made up your mind, and that's fine. I wish you the best with this opportunity, but please stand your ground with equipment standards.

I can call up the dude I did the ride a long with and ask him any questions, but mountain out of molehill here. That violations list are a lot of ticky tacs things IMO. Yes his equipment is old but I don't care. As long as the brakes work.....everything else is all a money grab anyways.
That's since 1977 that's not even that bad for a mom and pop guy dealing with all this ######## in this industry
