I’ve always got things squared away when I go home, and my wife is super supportive. She always makes sure all of my clothes are ready and the fridge is stocked. I have nothing to be concerned about, really.
I think maybe it’s because retirement is fast approaching, and everybody on the roads either wants to kill me, or sue me into oblivion. I don’t want to get into a situation that costs me what I’ve worked for, or worse. Could be the constant hyper-awareness getting to me.Friend, MidWest_MacDaddy, Knucklehead and 3 others Thank this. -
I would occasionally get this feeling like I forgot how to drive the truck when coming off home time. I also knew when I had been out too long when I would start having dreams where I was the truck. Almost a combination of Atlas and Sisyphus but with the nose of the trailer on my back instead of the Earth and pulling it up a cliff side mountain road with no guardrails.Friend, djsinco, Pigdude and 1 other person Thank this.

Yep. I was supposed to have home time starting yesterday, 7/7. But they had nothing for me to do all weekend. No loads. So I went home Friday morning with a trailer out of CB that delivered multi stop yesterday. Requested a load out for today, but hadn't gotten one as of Monday night.
And after last weeks shenanigans with CSR saying customer received on Saturday, when they don't and have never. Then trying to pick up other loads that aren't ready for a day later. I'm running on less than 2,000 miles for each of the last 2 weeks.
Between being short on miles and constantly running trips less than 700 miles when I'm supposed to be Long Haul, I've about had it. All winter they had me running west coast. Now I haven't been west since the last time it snowed?Friend, DonRobbie and Knucklehead Thank this. -
I'm not too happy with CSM's either. Got dispatched in a load from KC to Ft Worth that was already late the second I got the load info. No big deal since the appointment was rescheduled for 2 pm today, which i could've made with time to spare. Well at some point, the appointment was changed to 12:30 for some inexplicable reason. Now I can't make it. Dispatcher told me to just head on in and i get there when I get there. Problem is this load is going to an Americold facility. And in my experience, cold storage warehouses don't like it when you're late, or early for that matter
Friend, DonRobbie and Knucklehead Thank this. -
Which Americold are you going to in Fort Worth?

1313 Samuels Avenue

I’ve loaded out of their numerous times. You won’t have any issues. I’ve even been late for pick up and haven’t been there very long It’s not an overly cold storagecdavis188 Thanks this.

Hate these types of places. Pulled in at 1:15 and was told I had to pay a late fee of x amount of money and that it had to be paid within x amount of time or they won't unload me
Thankfully dispatch is sending an EFS code right over since it's technically the company's fault that it was late in the first place. I think this is the third time I've been to a cold storage warehouse in the past 2 years, which is 3 times too many as far as I'm concerned.
I'm glad I don't pull a reefer around anymore. I liked driving for Magnum but I got so fed up with asinine reefer bs like thisLast edited: Jul 8, 2025

Don't know why, but I liked reefer better. And loved produce backhauls. The trailer smelled nice to me, especially when hauling onions.
Friend Thanks this.
